Carmel, N.Y. – (12/12/11) – Senator Greg Ball (R, C – Patterson) announced $67 million that has been awarded by the Regional Economic Development Council to move forward with a total of 61 job creating projects in the Hudson Valley.
Senator Ball who announced many of these ‘shovel ready’ jobs in the beginning of November was happy to announce that, through team work, Putnam County is now receiving the funding necessary to move forward. More than $8.2 million of the funds will go directly to projects in Putnam County. Senator Ball said, “Putnam county should be extremely proud that such a small county has fought to receive such a large amount of these dollars. I am grateful that the Governor has chosen to work with the local elected officials and the business community to allocate those dollars with the best interest of the community. At the end of the day, while these dollars are fundamental important it is continued teamwork that will create the jobs”.
Some of the key projects that have received funding that Senator Ball has been advocating for include:
$1 million for the Paladin Homeland Security Project
$4 million for the biomedical incubator at New York Medical College
$5 million for San-Mar Manufacturing
$952,757 for Global Fenestration Solutions, Inc., a window and insulation manufacturer
$1 million for construction of a new state-of-the-art facility in Putnam County.
President of the Putnam Economic Development Corporation Kevin Bailey said, “None of this could of happened without the teamwork coming from Governor Cuomo, Senator Ball, Assemblyman Katz, former County Executive Paul Eldridge and the current County Executive Maryellen Odell. In my opinion this is most exciting day in Putnam Counties history as far as economic development”.
Assemblyman Katz who has worked with Senator Ball to fight for this funding said, “I am very proud to have been able to bring these projects to the attention of the governor and the regional council, and to have fought for them with local business leaders and officials. This has been truly an example of government cooperation at its best”.
