Brewster, N.Y. – (6/11/12) – Senator Greg Ball (R,C-Patterson) in cooperation with Legislator John Testa will be hosting a free Fish Fry at the Peekskill 2nd Annual Juneteenth Parade on Saturday, June 16th.
Juneteenth commemorates the day, June 19, 1865, when slaves in Texas found out that they had been freed. It is the oldest continuously celebrated African American Holiday commemorating the Emancipation from slavery.
The parade starts at 2 PM along Main Street to Central Ave. The Fish Fry event is scheduled to start at 3 PM immediately following the parade at the Housing Authority located at 807 Main Street, Peekskill, N.Y. Senator Greg Ball and his staff will be serving fried battered fish, fried chicken, potato salad, coleslaw, soda and water.
