Chief Justice Judith Kaye, the first woman to head New York's highest court, the Court of Appeals, administered the oath of office to State Senator Toby Ann Stavisky, the first woman elected to the State Senate from Queens. Senator Stavisky was re-elected in November to her fifth term in the State Senate.
