According to a Siena Poll released this morning, a clear majority from all parties and from all regions of New York believe that the new bipartisan leadership structure in the Senate, in which the Senate's IDC and Republican conference share control over the chamber, will help the Senate conduct its business more effectively.
Independent Democratic Conference Leader and Senate President Pro Tem Jeff Klein (D-Bronx/Westchester) said, "As the IDC has long believed, the best way to govern is by building consensus, working across the aisle, and advancing common sense proposals that move New York forward. We're pleased to see that New Yorkers continue to support our approach and we look forward to continue delivering the results that New Yorkers demand. With strong bipartisan leadership in place, the Senate is well positioned to once again make New York the leader in effective governing."
Senate Republican Conference Leader and Senate President Pro Tem Dean Skelos said, "We formed the Senate majority coalition because we believe that it is the best way to continue to build on the progress we've made over the last two years in ending government dysfunction, bringing spending under control, enacting a property tax cap and helping businesses create new jobs. It's clear that New Yorkers want Democrats and Republicans to work together to get results, and that is exactly what we are going to continue to do in the State Senate."
