Brewster, N.Y. – (3/2/13) – Over two dozen veterans from throughout the Hudson Valley were honored at Senator Greg Ball (R,C,I - Patterson) 2nd Annual Veterans’ Hall of Fame Ceremony. Among them, was Thomas Wichtendahl from the Town of Pawling.
The Veterans’ Hall of Fame was created by Senator Ball, and designed to honor outstanding veterans throughout the 40th Senate District. Each veteran that was honored will also be individually featured on a traveling wall that will tour local municipalities throughout the 40th district.
“I am excited to induct this 2nd class of heroes into our Veterans’ Hall of Fame! These men and women have been hand-picked by their communities because they chose a path of courage, honor, integrity and bravery; a path that helped shape America as we know it, protecting our way of life and liberty,” said Senator Greg Ball. “America is not a great country because of its politicians, it’s a great country because of our veterans.”
Thomas Wichtendahl is the Town of Pawling’s honoree for the 40th District Veterans’ Hall of Fame.
Thomas Wichtendahl was born in Yonkers, New York on August 29, 1963 and passed on May 8, 2010. He served in the United States Navy and United States Naval Reserve from September 4, 1981 to September 29, 2009, including Active Duty in Kuwait from 2004 through July 2005. He reached the rank of Utilitiesman 1st Class in the Navy Seabees.
Thomas Wichtendahl was a volunteer at the Putnam County Humane Society, a certified scuba diver, a TV extra in many shows, most notably, Rescue Me, an avid motorcycle rider and a car enthusiast.
Thomas Wichtendahl was the owner of White Star Plumbing and Heating, and a Town of Pawling Constable.
