Senator Bill Larkin (R-C, Cornwall-on-Hudson) recently announced that the Metropolitan Transportation Authority (MTA) will be holding a hearing in Orange County on March 2nd to take public comment regarding the MTA’s proposed fare increases, service cuts, and the Ravitch Commission’s proposal to initiate a mobility tax (also known as a payroll tax) on businesses.
“These proposals will not just affect those who live in New York City. They will have a serious impact on families and businesses throughout Orange County,” said Senator Larkin, “ That is why I encourage everyone who has an opinion on these proposals to come out Monday night and express themselves.”
The hearing will begin at 6:00 p.m. at the Hilton Garden Inn, 15 Crossroads Court, Newburgh, NY. Those who wish to testify must register beforehand. You may sign up to testify, submit comments, or find out more information by visiting the MTA’s website at www.mta.info. Oral testimony is limited to three minutes per speaker.
