Clarence, NY – State Senator Michael H. Ranzenhofer awarded New York State Senate Liberty Medals to Clarence First Responders last night at the Clarence Chamber of Commerce Annual Awards Dinner.
The Town of Clarence First Responders, Clarence Center Fire Company, Harris Hill Fire Company, Swormville Fire Company, East Amherst Fire Company, Rapids Volunteer Fire Company, Erie County Sheriff Department Clarence Substation, New York State Police Clarence Substation and Twin City Ambulance were awarded the New York State Senate Liberty Medal.
“The Liberty Medal recognizes the outstanding sacrifice, call to service and unwavering commitment to public safety in the Town of Clarence and all of Western New York. On behalf of the State of New York and Clarence residents, I would like to express our appreciation for the many heroic acts by the members of these organizations. I cannot think of any organizations more deserving of this award,” said Senator Ranzenhofer.
The Liberty Medal was created in 2000. It is one of the highest civilian awards that a New York State resident can receive. The Liberty Medal is presented to citizens who have merited special commendation for their actions on behalf of their fellow New Yorkers and their community.
Senator Ranzenhofer has been serving in the State Senate since 2009. He represents the 61st District which includes part of the city of Tonawanda, the Towns of Amherst, Clarence, Newstead and Tonawanda in Erie County and all of Genesee County.
