This is the bi-weekly report on the New York State Senate’s web presence. Last week the website received a total of 54805 visits, up by nearly 1,00 since the last report and 2,200 over the last month. It had a bounce rate of 53%, higher than it’s long term average of 42%, and new visitors 70% of the time, higher than the long term average of 67%, and one point higher than the last report. The all time graph at the bottom of the first page shows that the average level of website activity has risen since the commencement of session in January and is experiencing similar amounts of activity as it experienced last year during session.
The live webcasting has drawn just over 557,000 views since it’s adoption and the archived footage has followed that growth very closely. The NYSenate Youtube channel's attention has slightly outpaced Livestream with 560536 overall visits. The short clips on the NYSenate Youtube account are about 15 times more watched than the full videos of session and events posted on the nysenateuncut account.
The number of Senators using join social media platforms such as Facebook and Twitter has remained the same since the last report but the Senators engaging in these media have been growing their followings. The Senators now reach a total of 26,239 people through Facebook and 9513 through Twitter. The NYSenate account itself currently reaches over 3200 people through it’s Twitter account.
