Following the events of September 11th, my district office turned into a relief center to help the emergency workers, the volunteers and the victims families. Over 2,000 people came through my office doors to donate blood, food, clothing, water, medical supplies and tools. From this response of civic activism, and after hearing President Bush's call, community leaders and myself created the Community Emergency Response Team.
