Senator Co Hosts Yonkers Small Business Resource Forum

Senator Stewart-Cousins, Assemblymember Shelley Mayer, Mayor Mike Spano, along with co-sponsors Empire State Development, Women’s Enterprise Development Center, New York State Department of Labor, the Yonkers Chamber of Commerce, the Yonkers City Council President’s Office, the Yonkers City Council and other co-sponsors hosted a small business resource forum for small business owners and those interested in learning more about starting a small business in Yonkers.

Funding Workforce Training for Women in Growing Industries

A new program, funded by New York State, will give unemployed or underemployed women from Westchester a chance to find a job in the green energy industry. At a press conference, Senator Andrea Stewart-Cousins, Assemblyman Gary Pretlow and Assemblywoman Shelley Mayer presented a $40,000 check to the Yonkers YWCA to fund a free Solar Workforce Training Program in partnership with Rockland Community College. The grant came from the New York State Department of Labor and was allocated to the Yonkers YWCA as part of the 2011 Regional Economic Development Council awards.

Mt. Pleasant, NY — Regeneron Pharmaceuticals Inc. will expand its corporate headquarters and laboratories in Westchester County and create more than 400 new jobs.

On Thursday, Regeneron announced the expansion, which includes the construction of two buildings with 300,000 square feet of laboratory and office space, plus an expected four-story, 700-car parking garage on the north side of 777 Old Saw Mill River Road at The Landmark at Eastview.

"Wine In Due Time" Store Ribbon Cutting Ceremony

Senator Andrea Stewart-Cousins showed her support for local businesses by attending the ribbon cutting ceremony for Wine In Due Time, a a boutique wine store located on the beautiful Yonkers waterfront, on Friday, October 4th. Along with Yonkers Mayor Mike Spano and City Councilman Chris Johnson, Senator Stewart-Cousins welcomes store owner Sepi Pashaie and staff to the neighborhood.

Greenway ShopRite Re-Grand Opening Ceremony

The ShopRite located in Greenway Plaza of Yonkers closed over the summer for renovations and re-opened its new and improved store on Saturday, October 5th. Senator Stewart-Cousins had the pleasure of being part of the ribbon cutting ceremony, alongside Mayor Mike Spano and City Councilman Chris Johnson. 

Manhattan Beer Distributors Bronx Facility Tour

On Tuesday, October 8th, Senator Andrea Stewart-Cousins had the opportunity to tour the Manhattan Beer Distributors' new facility in the Bronx to get a better understanding of how the specialized beverage manufacturing facility was working for New York. Groundbreaking for Ben’s Kosher Deli and Restaurant in Scarsdale

Senator Stewart-Cousins broke ground at Ben’s Kosher Delicatessen and Restaurant in Scarsdale. The two story facility located on Central Avenue will offer kosher catering deli and restaurant service. It will also have a full bar and feature an extensive list of freshly made daily specials that will appeal to a broader customer base, in addition to the traditional Kosher deli fare that made Ben's famous. This will be Ben's seventh location, joining its three locations in Long Island, one in Queens, one in Manhattan and one in Boca Raton, FL.

Regeneron Groundbreaking Ceremony

Senator Stewart-Cousins broke ground at Regeneron Pharmaceuticals, kicking off the expansion project of the company's corporate headquarters and laboratories in Westchester County. New York State contributed $8.5 million in tax credits through the Excelsior Jobs Program to make this expansion possible.

Montefiore Acquisition of Sound Shore Medical Center Press Conference

On November 6th, Senator Stewart-Cousins spoke at the press conference announcing the acquisition of Sound Shore Medical Center in New Rochelle by Montefiore. SSMC was at risk of closing, but Montefiore's acquisition will save hundreds of jobs and maintain access to health care for the New Rochelle community. $2.7 Million in State Economic Development Grants Rewarded to Yonkers, White Plains and New Rochelle for Job-Creating Projects

Projects in the cities of Yonkers, White Plains and New Rochelle received a total of $3.9 million in grants and incentives from the Regional Economic Development Council awards on Monday, December 17th. Senator Stewart-Cousins co-represents the three cities.
