           State Senator Andrea Stewart Cousins (D/WF – 35th District) and Attorney General Andrew Cuomo conducted a public and press event on Tuesday at the Mount Pleasant Town Hall in Valhalla. The meeting highlighted the provisions of the New York Local Government Reorganization and Citizen Empowerment Act, a program bill from the Attorney General which Senator Stewart- Cousins sponsored in the State Senate.

Local Government Consolidation Measure Takes First Major Step;Senator Andrea Stewart-Cousins Introduces and Advances Attorney General’s Program Bill in Senate with Bipartisan Support

    State Senator Andrea Stewart-Cousins (D - 35th District), Chair, SenateLocal Government Committee announced today that she and Senator Elizabeth O’C Little have introduced landmark legislation that will empower citizens and local officials across the State of New York to significantly reduce the size and cost of government while increasing its efficiency and reducing the property tax burden.  The Senator also announced that the measure was approved today by the Senate Local Government Committee.

LEGISLATION SPONSORED BY SENATOR ANDREA STEWART-COUSINS APPROVED BY SENATE; Measure Allows Not-For-Profits to Make Purchases Through County Contracts

      State Senator Andrea Stewart-Cousins (D/WF – 35th District) announced that her legislation, Senate bill 5601, was approved by the Senate.  The bill amends the general municipal law to allow not-for-profits, that provide services for their respective county to make purchases for goods and services through existing county contracts.
