Senator Andrea Stewart-Cousins visited the Sound Shore Medical Center on Wednesday, August 14th to receive a skirt made especially for her by Mr. Edrick Forde, a former tailor who will be celebrating his 106th birthday on September 11th. In a quote after the visit, Senator Stewart-Cousins commented, “I am incredibly thankful to Mr. Forde for the beautiful skirt. He is still as talented a tailor as he ever was, and I am so thrilled to know him. Adult day services, like those offered to Mr. Forde by Ludington Adult Day Services, are critically important because they provide senior citizens with opportunities to stay active and engaged in any number of activities.
Senator Stewart-Cousins showed her support and joined in on the festivities at the annual Golden Harvest Dance and Talent Show on Tuesday, October 1st, 2013, a special event where seniors showcased their talents and danced the afternoon away at the Westchester County Center in White Plains.
Senator Stewart-Cousins makes sure to recognize the individuals who strive to improve the quality of life for the elderly and disabled. That is exactly what she did at Cabrini of Westchester in Dobbs Ferry when she presented a Legislative Resolution to Patricia Tinston, a clinical health nurse at the facility. The Resolution, which passed the State Senate this year, recognized Ms. Tinston for receiving the LeadingAge NY Long-Term Care Employee of Distinction Award.
