City Unveils "NYC Restore" to Provide One-stop Locations for City Recovery Services and Federal Disaster Relief

City officials today unveiled NYC Restore, a comprehensive new initiative to provide one-stop locations for City recovery services and federal disaster relief.  The seven new Restoration Centers opening across the city this week will connect impacted residents and businesses with financial, health, environmental, nutritional and residential services, as well as FEMA reimbursement processing.

SENATOR LANZA ANNOUNCES SMALL BUSINESS EMERGENCY LOAN FUND TO PROVIDE ASSISTANCE FOR BUSINESSES AFFECTED BY SANDY

Senator Andrew Lanza today announced that the New York Bankers Association (NYBA) and the New York Business Development Corporation (NYBDC) have agreed to establish a $10 million small business emergency loan fund to provide immediate financial assistance for businesses impacted by Storm Sandy.

SENATOR LANZA ANNOUNCES FEMA EMERGENCY ASSISTANCE FOR HOMEOWNERS

Senator Andrew Lanza today announced that FEMA will issue Emergency Assistance for New Yorkers whose homes were affected by Hurricane Sandy. FEMA will bring in contractors in order to perform basic repairs so that residents can return to their homes while more long term repairs are in progress. Only residents in the federally-declared declared counties are eligible to participate in this program. Homeowners in these localities who want to apply for assistance should contact their county or local officials to receive contractor support.

Message from Senator Lanza Regarding Donations

If anyone knows of specific families who are in need, my office has an abundance of cleaning supplies, blankets and food. We have plenty on hand and people available to deliver, however, we don't have many specific requests coming in at this time. We've also gotten requests for backpacks and plastic storage bins if anyone would like to donate those. Thank you for all the continued generosity.

MAJOR STATE BANKS AGREE TO WAIVE CONSUMER FEES IN AFTERMATH OF SANDY

Several major state-chartered banks have agreed to waive a number of fees and penalties in response to the impact on consumers by Storm Sandy. State-chartered banks that will drop the fees include M&T Bank, Apple Savings, Dime Savings Bank of Williamsburgh, Emigrant Savings Bank and New York Community Bank.

Details may vary from bank to bank and consumers should contact their individual bank for specifics. In general, banks have agreed to temporarily waive the following fees and penalties at least until November 15, and in some cases longer:

· ATM fees

· Late payment charges

· Penalties for checks returned because of insufficient funds

· Overdraft protection transfer fees
