Senator Bill Perkins recently presented a proclamation honoring the life, memory and everlasting legacy of The Queen, Celia Cruz—on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of her debut performance at the Apollo Theater in May of 1964. The event, entitled “Tribute To La Guarachera De Cuba | The Queen Celia Cruz” was hosted by the Apollo Theater in partnership with the Caribbean Cultural Center African Diaspora Institute, in collaboration with the Celia Cruz Legacy Project.
