On June 22, 2010 Senator Bill Perkins participated in a press conference which advocated for the passage of S. 1987-B, the dignity for all students act. On the same day the bill passed the Senate with a vote of 58 to 3.

Gangs, police officers and individuals, are all subject to this societal fixation of seeing black men as ‘the bad guy.’
