New York State Urban Development Corporation, and to order a statewide moratorium on the use of eminent domain within the State of New York pending legislative action.
On December 4, 2009 Senator Perkins announced the Kaur v. New York State Urban Development Corporation decision.
On December 8, 2009 Senator Perkins sent a letter to Governeor Paterson ugring him to order a statewide moratorium on the use of eminent domain within the State of New York pending legislative action. (see below)
On December 17, 2009 the New York Amsterdam News reported that Senator Bill Perkins applauded the appellate court decision that rejected the use of eminent domain in regard to the Columbia University’s west side expansion plans. Additionally, Senator Perkins sent a letter to Governor David Paterson requesting that he place a moratorium on eminent domain, pending legislative action, and not to appeal the court’s decision.
