On Saturday, March 6, 2010, State Senator Brian X. Foley (D – Blue Point) was joined by small business owners and activists in rallying against the governor’s proposal to sell wine in grocery stores. The measure, which is proposed as part of the governor’s budget, will costs thousands of jobs at small wine and liquor stores across the state and increase access to alcohol for underage drinkers.

The 2010 Census awareness event, which took place at the Brentwood Public Library, was centered around relaying the importance of Census participation and giving community members the tools necessary to educate their friends, family, and neighbors about the Census.  


Sen. Foley Leads Community Effort to Clean up Graffiti in Brentwood

Joined by volunteers from all walks of life in Brentwood, State Senator Brian X. Foley led the effort to clean up graffiti from public and private property in the neighborhood. Senator Foley’s office worked with a local civic group, Brentwood Residents Against Violence Every Day (BRAVE), to organize the start of a concerted effort to rid the community of graffiti. 


Senator Foley Protects Victims of Domestic Violence

Legislation sponsored by Senator Brian X. Foley (D – Blue Point) aimed at protecting the rights and security of victims of domestic violence has been signed into law by Governor Paterson.

The new law allows victims of domestic violence to request a court order that requires the Board of Elections to keep their registration records confidential. This means that victims will be afforded an added layer of protection in keeping their new address out of the hands of their abusers.


Senator Foley Helps Families Coping with Autism

Senator Brian X. Foley (D – Blue Point) co-sponsored legislation that will protect children with autism. Senate Bill 7000-B, which passed the senate yesterday, will establish a national model requiring health care coverage for autism. This will save families thousands of dollars a year.
