March 2, 2010: NYS Senator Brian Foley comments on the creation of the bi-partisan Government Efficiency Task Force. Chaired by Deputy Senate Majority Leader Jeff Klein, the twelve member task force of which Sen. Foley is a member will conduct a statewide investigation into the spending practices of state agencies and operations to uncover areas of administrative inefficiencies and government waste.
March 1, 2010: New York State Senator Brian X. Foley comments on Senate Bill 5945, which authorizes courts to order the confidentiality of election registration records of a victim of domestic violence. The bill passed by a 57-0 vote.
The New York State Senate passed an important bill sponsored by Senator Brian X. Foley (D – Blue Point) that allows victims of domestic violence to have their addresses sealed. Sen. Foley’s bill (S. 5945) addresses a flaw in the election law that mandates boards of elections to disclose a voter’s address to anyone requesting that information.
Senator Brian X. Foley (D – Blue Point) helped pass major legislation to expand clean energy credits in New York State. The legislation (S. 6700) will enable residents to take full advantage of net metering, a program that offers utility bill discounts in exchange for unused power generated through alternative energy sources. The program applies to power generated through wind and solar energy sources.
Nearly 300 park goers from local communities joined State Senator Brian X. Foley (D – Blue Point) at a rally to support Long Island’s parks. The rally came in response to Gov. Paterson’s proposed cuts targeting state parks in order to fix the budget deficit.

While it may seem drastic to some, Senator Monserrate’s expulsion was necessary because of the totality of his actions.
