Senator Marcellino To Host Long Island Railroad Advisory Committee Meeting

Senator Carl L. Marcellino (R-Syosset) today announced that on February 17th at 7 p.m. he will be hosting a Long Island Railroad Advisory Committee meeting at the Doubleday Babcock Senior Center, 45 East Main Street, Oyster Bay."Fare increases, reduced service, station closures - these are the all too common problems we face as MTA and Long Island Railroad users. The time has come to organize as a community and discuss solutions," said Senator Marcellino. "During the Fall I sent a survey garnering support for improved scheduling and service of the Oyster Bay Line.

Senator Marcellino And Assemblymember Dinapoli To Sponsor Community Preservation Act

(Albany, NY) – Proposed legislation in Albany would give New York towns a new and potentially powerful tool to preserve land and community character. Known as the Community Preservation Act (CPA), the law would authorize towns in New York State to adopt, after a local referendum, a real estate transfer fee of up to 2 percent for the purpose of establishing a community preservation fund. First introduced in 2004, the bill enjoys bi-partisan support and majority sponsorship in both houses.

Senator Marcellino And Comptroller To Negotiate Language For Comprehensive School Audit Legislation

After a face-to-face meeting, State Senator Carl L. Marcellino (R, Syosset) and Comptroller Alan Hevesi have agreed to negotiate legislation which would allow the Comptroller to set standards for school audits. The bill would also provide the Comptroller’s Office a permanent funding source to pay for needed auditing staff. In 2004, Marcellino drafted S. 7492-A which would institute a five year audit cycle for school districts to be audited directly by the New York State Comptroller.

Senator Marcellino Is Sworn In To Office

Senator Carl L. Marcellino (R- Syosset) was sworn in to begin his new term as the representative of the Fifth Senate District on January 5, 2005. Court of Appeals Judge Judith S. Kaye administered the Oath of Office at the Senate Chambers in Albany. Immediately following the ceremony Senator Marcellino proceeded to the Assembly Chamber for Governor Pataki's State of the State Address.

Senator Carl Marcellino Named "man Of The Year In Government"

Senator Carl L. Marcellino was named "Man of the Year in Government" along with Congressman Steve Israel and Assemblyman Andrew Raia for their bipartisan cooperation in working for their constituents.
