State Senator Carl L. Marcellino (R-Syosset) announced today that he has been appointed chairman of the Senate Committee on Investigations and Government Operations. The Committee on Investigations and Government Operations serves as the Senate’s primary legislative and governmental oversight committee and, among other responsibilities, is specifically charged with reviewing New York’s tax and regulatory policies, economic development strategies, and many government reform initiatives.
Governor Andrew Cuomo’s first State of the State message echoed the themes that I have been talking about for the last two years. Cutting spending, cutting taxes, lowering property taxes, reducing the size of government and helping businesses create new private sector jobs must be the priorities. If we can accomplish these goals, we will put New York on a path of financial recovery and restore the public’s faith in our State government.
The MTA will be holding hearings on their proposed fare hikes. The hearings on Long Island will take place, Thursday, September 16, beginning at 6 PM; registration will opens at 5 PM and closes at 9 PM. at the Garden City Hotel 45 Seventh Street in Garden City.
