"In one of the most irresponsible and shameful moves ever seen in Albany,the New York City-controlled tax and spend Senators have decided to adjournrather than finishing the state budget. 

They have added billions of dollars in new spending, yet they are skipping town without paying the bill. 

When Upstate Senators questioned them about why they were not bringing up the rest of their budget, they refused to answer, and instead ruled Senators out of order. 

The law requires the budget to be passed by April 1 and the Senate should stay in Albany until it's done.  I'm going to continue to fight against their out-of-control taxes and spending. 

ALBANY - "Governor Cuomo is correct that our state is teetering on the edge of a cliff, and it must be saved.  People and jobs are leaving, and there are not enough career opportunities for our young people.  Our future depends on making responsible decisions to turn around the economy, grow jobs, alleviate the crushing tax burden, and restructure government spending," Senator Catharine Young (R,C,I - Olean) said.

          “There's good news for the people of New York.

            Not only will the state budget be on time, we already have started to pass budget bills and even may complete our work early for the first time in 15 years.

          The recently approved State budget illustrates the new way New York State government is getting positive results.  Having joined with Governor Cuomo, and hardworking taxpayers from across our State, I am proud to say that this year the Senate stopped the vicious cycle of raising taxes to pay for unrestrained spending.
