EMPIRE ZONE - State senator criticizes plan to strip tax breaks

OLEAN—State Sen. Catharine Young, R-Olean, warned Friday that about 80 area businesses would be among more than 2,000 companies across the state to lose Empire Zone incentives under a plan being implemented by the Empire State Development Corporation.

REVIVING ROUTE 219 PROJECT FOCUS OF LEGISLATIVE ROUNDTABLE

BUFFALO – A completed Route 219 corridor would transform the economic potential for Western New York was the consensus among panelists who spoke at a special roundtable on Thursday that focused on finding solutions to complete the north-south expressway project.

Senator Catharine Young (R,C,I – Olean), joined by a delegation of bi-partisan lawmakers from Western New York, hosted the “Route 219: Road to Our Future” forum at the Mahoney State Office Building to hear from key transportation, labor, tourism, logistics, education, banking, and health care officials on expanding the route.

ALBANY – Senator Catharine Young (R,C,I – Olean) is co-sponsoring a major job creation plan that will be passed in the state Senate’s budget resolution next week.  The 2012 NEW JOBS-NY Job Creation Plan includes significant tax relief to encourage the creation of new private sector jobs, measures to control state spending and ensure fiscal responsibility, and to protect taxpayers, according to Senator Young.
