Critical Access Hospitals provide vital healthcare for rural communities
ALBANY – For the second year in a row, Senator Catharine Young (R,C,I-Olean), Chair of the Legislative Commission on Rural Resources, announced that she successfully secured funding crucial to the continued operation of New York’s Critical Access Hospitals.
“These facilities serve as a healthcare lifeline for many rural communities. The people they serve are reliant on the healthcare services they provide,” said Senator Young.
Strengthened Training and Skill Development Will Improve Hospital Services
Allegany County residents who rely on the care provided at Jones Memorial Hospital, the only full service hospital in the county, can look forward to better healthcare services. Improvements are being made as a result of training assistance provided through the Workforce Development Institute (WDI), along with the New York State Hazard Abatement Board.
“This is great news for everyone in the Wellsville region. Jones Memorial is a major employer that provides care to families and residents from all over the area. The desire at Jones Memorial to continue improving services, and equip employees with the skills and training to provide the best care possible, speaks to their vision and dedication,” said Senator Catharine Young (R,C,I-Olean).
Funding follows designation as a Critical Access Hospital
CUBA- Senator Catharine M. Young (R,I,C- Olean) announced great news for the region following Cuba Memorial Hospital’s completion of the hospital’s final mortgage payment. The mortgage payment comes as a result of the hospital receiving state support of just over $3.3 million under its designation as a Critical Access Hospital.
Improvements coming to WCA that will increase addiction treatment services, alleviate jail overcrowding
ALBANY – Senator Catharine Young (R,C,I– Olean) has delivered a $350,000 capital grant in the state budget to establish a supportive housing program at WCA Hospital’s Jones Hill site in Jamestown.
“The new program will be a big step towards addressing the region’s opioid and heroin epidemic, placing people with addiction problems in a specialized housing facility instead of the county jail,” Senator Young said.
