SENATOR YOUNG FIGHTS TO PROTECT AGRICULTURE PROGRAMS

           Senate Young (R-C-I, Olean) today fought to restore $30 million in state funds for the Dairy Assistance Program, as well as restore $10 million for other agriculture programs that are vitally important to the state’s largest industry.  The Dairy Assistance Program provided $30 million in direct support payments to the state’s dairy producers to help prevent family farms from going out of business.

ALBANY  - The state budget just unveiled by legislative leaders “is a disgrace,” said Senator Catharine Young (R,I,C-Olean).

“The economy is in the tank, people are losing their jobs, families are having a tough time making ends meet, and the three men in a room, all New York City Democrats, come up with a budget in secret that is the hugest tax hike and spending spree in the history of the state,” she said.

Reynolds Game Farm Stays Open !

Keeping open the Reynolds Game Farm, a preserve where pheasants are bred to be released for hunting across the state, is a big win for outdoor sportsmen and rural New York, said Senator Catharine Young (R,I,C-Olean).

Governor David Paterson had ordered the closure of the Department of Environmental Conservation-run facility near Ithaca last December, but reversed his position on Friday.
