Senator Young Announces Funding For Aspire

Aspire of Western New York will add to its high level of service to people with developmental disabilities, thanks to a $25,000 grant obtained by State Senator Cathy Young (R,I,C-Olean). The grant will be used for the purchase of a wheelchair lift van. Aspire was experiencing problems with transportation, facilitating multiple groups of individuals in the community simultaneously in congruence with its day rehabilitation program."The purchase of the new van should increase Aspire’s capabilities and expand their services," Senator Young said.

Preheater Breaks Ground For $15 Million Project

The project comes with help from the state, including a $1.5 million capital investment grant and benefits from the Empire Zone and Empire State Development. State leaders at the groundbreaking said the project could hit $18 million and add more jobs than expected.“This is a great day for Wellsville and a great day for the entire region,” said State Sen. The Humane Society of Livingston County will be able to continue with its mission of preventing cat and dog overpopulation, thanks to a $5,000 grant obtained by State Senator Cathy Young (R,I,C - Olean). The Eastside family YMCA will benefit from increased safety and additional recreational space, thanks to a $30,000 grant obtained by State Senator Cathy Young (R,I,C-Olean).

The funding will be used for the construction and renovation of existing property, converting a former parking lot into a fenced-in recreation area. The parking lot will be leveled and blacktopped, surrounded by a six-foot cyclone fence, and inserted with a pair of basketball hoops. The funding will also contribute to roof repairs to the program building.

Catholic Charities of Livingston County received the grant to continue its Faith in Action volunteer caregiver support program."Due to the rural nature of our region, volunteer support for our elderly and disabled is essential," Senator Young said.

Financial Boost

Flooding counter-measurers and agritourism are getting a financial boost thanks to state Sen. Catharine Young. Sen. Young, R-Olean, spoke in Jamestown on Monday to announce therelease of $50,000 in state funds for three specific local projects. The first was a $20,000 member item grant for the Conewango Watershed Commission, which has worked for several yearsto clear out sections of Conewango Creek to ease drainage. Sen.Young was among the first state politicians to see the issues associated with the watershed together with the late state Sen. Patricia McGee.

Senator Young Announces Funding For Cattaraugus County Code Program

State Senator Cathy Young (R,I,C - Olean) today announced a $16,000 grant for the Cattaraugus County Sheriff Community-Oriented Drug Education (CODE) program.The funding will be used to continue the operation of the CODE program in schools throughout Cattaraugus County and at special events, such as the county fair. The program helps to educate Cattaraugus County youth about the dangers of substance abuse, and also includes character and self-esteem building sessions.

Alfred Village Hall Grant Announced

State Senator Cathy Young (R,I,C - Olean) today announced a $50,000 state grant for restoration of the Village Hall in Alfred.The grant assists with the expenses associated with the purchase and installation of an elevator and metal exit stairs for the Village Hall."I was pleased to obtain the necessary funding for the ongoing restoration project," said Senator Young.
