Senator Young Announces $15,500 In Funding For Cattaraugus County Agricultural Society

People with physical challenges will be able to access the Cattaraugus County Fairground grandstand easier, thanks to a $15,500 grant obtained by State Senator Catharine Young (R,I,C - Olean). The funding will provide for purchase and installation of a vertical platform lift on the grandstand for people with physical disabilities. A handicapped-accessible area located in front of the grandstand was becoming increasingly unsafe due to debris flying through the fence at some of the races, and visibility in this location was obstructed by a concrete barrier.

Young Legislation Signed Into Law

State Senator Catharine Young (R,I,C - Olean) today announced a bill to protect consumers from the dumping of substandard agricultural products in New York State has been signed into law by Governor Spitzer.

The legislation prevents out-of-state food distributors from dumping of any cull or waste pile containing substandard product from outside the state that could contaminate food and require such cull or waste pile to be disposed of in an appropriate manner.

Local youth will benefit from new equipment at The Relief Zone in Frewsburg, thanks to a $20,000 grant secured by State Senator Catharine Young (R,I,C-Olean). The Relief Zone operates as a nonprofit organization that serves the community by offering a safe meeting place for various youth activities that build relationships, encourage social development, create feelings of empowerment, and develop educational skills.
