Breast Cancer Screening Program- Massapequa Park

New York State Senator Charles J. Fuschillo, Jr. (R-Merrick), in conjunction with NuHealth/Nassau Health Care Corporation, will be sponsoring a breast cancer screening program on Thursday, June 20th from 8:45 am to 12:00 pm at the Massapequa Library’s Bar Harbour Building. The library is located at 40 Harbor Lane in Massapequa Park.

Appointments are necessary and will be scheduled on a first-come, first-served basis. On site nurses and technicians will provide a mammography, a clinical breast examination and instructions for self examination. Patients and their physicians will be notified of the exam results.

NuHealth’s guidelines for the program are as follows:

* The program is open to all Nassau County women ages 40 and over.

Shed the Meds Program- Roosevelt

Senator Charles J. Fuschillo, Jr. (R-Merrick) will be sponsoring a “Shed the Meds” program in Roosevelt to help residents safely dispose of unused or expired medications.

The “Shed the Meds” program will be held on Saturday, May 18th between 11 am and 2 pm at the Roosevelt Library, located at 27 West Fulton Avenue in Roosevelt. Residents will be able to drop off their old or unused medications for safe disposal by officers from the Nassau County Police Department who will be supervising the program.

Free Prostate Cancer Screening Program- Roosevelt

Senator Charles J. Fuschillo, Jr. (R-Merrick), in conjunction with South Nassau Communities Hospital, will be sponsoring a free prostate cancer screening program on Saturday, May 18th in Roosevelt.

Screenings will be conducted on May 18th between 11 am and 2 pm at the Roosevelt Library, which is located at 27 West Fulton Avenue in Roosevelt.

Free Citizen CPR Course- North Bellmore

     Senator Charles J. Fuschillo, Jr. (R-Merrick) will be sponsoring a free Citizen CPR courses for residents on Saturday, June 1st in North Bellmore.

     The course will be held at the North Bellmore Library (1551 Newbridge Road) from 10:00 am-11:00 am. Trained CPR professionals from Bellmore-Merrick EMS will instruct residents on what to do when in an emergency situation where someone needs CPR.

     Program participants will learn live-saving, hands-only CPR techniques from a certified CPR instructor and be able to practice CPR chest compressions on a mannequin. AED demonstrations will also be performed.

Job Resource Expo

     Senator Charles J. Fuschillo, Jr. (R-Merrick) will be holding a Job Resource Expo to help individuals looking for jobs better prepare themselves to find employment. The event will be held on Friday, May 3rd from 10 am to 12 pm at the Freeport Recreation Center, which is located at 130 East Merrick Road in Freeport.

     Senator Fuschillo’s job resource expo will help job seekers learn tools that will help improve their chances of gaining employment. Those in attendance can have their resumes reviewed, learn interviewing skills & job searching tips, and speak with career counselors.

     Senator Charles J. Fuschillo, Jr. (R-Merrick) and the Suffolk County Sheriff’s Office will be sponsoring a “Shed the Meds” program to help residents safely dispose of unused or expired medications.

     The “Shed the Meds” program will be held on Saturday, May 4th between 9 am and 12 pm at Copiague Middle School, located at 2650 Great Neck Road in Copiague. Residents will be able to drive up, drop off their old or unused medications, and drive away. All collected medication will be safely disposed of by officers from the Suffolk County Sheriff’s Office who will be supervising the program.

Small Business Networking Expo

     Senator Charles J. Fuschillo, Jr. (R-Merrick) is inviting all current and prospective small business owners to his 2013 Small Business Networking Expo, which take place on Thursday, April 18th from 5 pm to 6:30 pm at the Seaford Knights of Columbus, located at 2183 Jackson Avenue in Seaford.

     The event will provide current and aspiring small business owners with an opportunity to network with one another and learn about services that could help their business grow. Additionally, businesses that were affected by Superstorm Sandy will be able to get information and speak to representatives from government and non-profit agencies about recovery programs designed to help businesses.

Free Senior ID Program- Masapequa Park

Senator Charles J. Fuschillo, Jr. (R-Merrick) will be partnering with Nassau County Executive Ed Mangano in sponsoring a free Senior ID Card Program in Massapequa Park.

The program will be held from 12:00 pm- 3:00 pm on Tuesday, April 2nd at the Brady Park Senior Center, located at 1000 Lake Shore Drive in Massapequa Park. Nassau County residents ages 65 and over are eligible to participate and receive a free senior ID card. No appointments are necessary.

Unclaimed Funds- Copiague

     Senator Charles J. Fuschillo, Jr. (R-Merrick) and New York State Comptroller Tom DiNapoli will be sponsoring a free program in Copiague to help residents find out if they are entitled to any of the $11 billion in New York State unclaimed funds.

     The program will take place on Thursday, March 28th from 10 am to 1 pm at the Tanner Park Senior Center, located on Baylawn Avenue in Copiague. Representatives from the State Comptroller’s Office will be available to help residents search for unclaimed funds in their name, as well as answer questions and provide guidance on how they can file a claim for any unclaimed funds to which they may be entitled.
