Free Citizen CPR Course

     Senator Charles J. Fuschillo, Jr. (R-Merrick) announced that he will be partnering with the Wantagh and Massapequa Fire Departments in offering free Citizen CPR courses to residents on Saturday, October 27, 2012.

     The courses will be held at the Wantagh Fire Department Headquarters, located at 3470 Park Avenue in Wantagh from 10:00 am to 11:00 am and at the Massapequa Fire Station located at 515 Hicksville Road in Massapequa from 10:00 am-11:00 am and 11:00 am to 12:00 pm. Trained CPR professionals will instruct residents on what to do when in an emergency situation where someone needs CPR.

Free Legal Services Program

Property Tax Exemption Workshop

     Senator Charles J. Fuschillo, Jr. (R-Merrick) in partnership with County Executive Ed Mangano and Mayor James Altadonna will be sponsoring a Property Tax Exemption Workshop on Friday, October 19th from 1 pm to 3 pm at the Massapequa Park Village Hall. 

     Exemption specialists from the Nassau County Department of Assessment will be equipped with computers linked to the county’s database, and property tax exemption applications for Basic STAR, Enhanced STAR, senior citizens, individuals with disabilities, veterans, volunteer firefighters and emergency medical technicians will be processed. County staffers will also provide assistance and answer any questions residents have about these exemptions.

     Senator Charles J. Fuschillo, Jr. (R-Merrick) will once again be sponsoring a “Cell Phones for Soldiers” program to benefit our troops serving overseas at two locations on Saturday, October 13th, 2012.

     Residents with outdated or unwanted cell phones can donate them at either Amityville Village Hall (21 Ireland Place, Amityville) or the Bellmore Train Station (northwest corner of Sunrise Highway and Centre Avenue, Bellmore) on October 13th from 9:00 am to 12:00 pm. Participating in the program is easy; residents can simply drive up, drop off their unwanted cell phones, and drive away.

Free Foreclosure Prevention Program

     Senator Charles J. Fuschillo, Jr. (R-Merrick) is partnering with the New York State Department of Financial Services (DFS) and Freeport  Mayor Andrew Hardwick to provide services and assistance to homeowners facing foreclosure.

     Senator Fuschillo and Mayor Hardwick have arranged to have DFS’ Mobile Foreclosure Relief Center to come to the Freeport Train Station parking lot (northeast corner of Sunrise Highway and Henry Street) on Friday, October 12, 2012 from 11:00am-7:00pm.

     Senator Charles J. Fuschillo, Jr. (R-Merrick), in conjunction with the Integrated Medical Foundation, will be sponsoring a free prostate cancer screening program in Lindenhurst.

     The free screening program will be held on Wednesday, October 10, 2012 between 4 pm and 6 pm at the Lindenhurst Community Center, which is located at 793 Buffalo Avenue, Lindenhurst.

     The Integrated Medical Foundation’s guidelines for the program are as follows:

     • Open to all men over the age of 40 who have not previously been diagnosed with prostate cancer, regardless of whether or not they have insurance;

     • Screenings will include a PSA blood test and a digital rectal exam;

Beach Clean Up

Senator Charles J. Fuschillo, Jr. (R-Merrick) is inviting residents to lend a helping hand in keeping Long Island’s beaches clean by participating in a beach cleanup day he is sponsoring at Jones Beach on September 15, 2012 from 8 am to 1 pm.

Senator Fuschillo is sponsoring the event in partnership with the New York State Office of Parks, Recreation, and Historic Preservation and Operation SPLASH (Stop Polluting Littering And Save Harbors) to keep our beaches and shores clean and prevent pollution from harming our oceans and marine life.

Mobile Legal Help Center- North Amityville

     Senator Charles J. Fuschillo, Jr. (R-Merrick) and Babylon Town Supervisor Rich Schaffer today announced that they will be sponsoring a program in North Amityville to provide free legal services to those in need.

     Senator Fuschillo and Supervisor Schaffer have arranged to bring the Mobile Legal Help Center to Bolden Mack Park, located at 3455 Great Neck Road in North Amityville, on Tuesday, August 21st from 10 am to 3 pm. The Mobile Legal Help Center, which is a partnership between the New York Legal Assistance Group (NYLAG) and the New York State Office of Court Administration, brings free, civil legal services directly into communities.

Golden Gathering

     Senator Charles J. Fuschillo, Jr. (R-Merrick) is inviting residents to attend his annual Golden Gathering on Thursday, October 18th. The Golden Gathering will take place from 9:30 am to 12:30 pm at the Freeport Recreation Center, located at 130 East Merrick Road in Freeport.

     The 2012 Golden Gathering will have over 100 exhibitors on hand to answer questions about a variety of issues, such as health and nutrition, consumer protection, public safety, and insurance.

     Senator Charles J. Fuschillo, Jr. (R-Merrick), in conjunction with South Nassau Communities Hospital, will be sponsoring a no out-of-pocket cost prostate cancer screening program on Wednesday, September 12th in Freeport.

Free Car Seat Safety Check- Seaford

     Senator Charles J. Fuschillo, Jr. (R-Merrick) announced today that he will be partnering with the New York State Police to sponsor a free car seat safety check on Saturday, August 18th in Seaford.

     The free car seat safety check will be held from 9 am to 1 pm at the Seaford Train Station parking lot on the northwest corner of Jackson Avenue and Sunrise Highway in Seaford. Officers from the New York State Police will be performing free safety seat inspections to make sure that drivers have their children’s car seats properly installed and secured.

Foreclosure Prevention Program- Copiague

     Senator Charles J. Fuschillo, Jr. (R-Merrick) is partnering with the New York State Department of Financial Services (DFS) to help provide services to homeowners facing foreclosure.

     Senator Fuschillo has arranged with DFS to bring its Mobile Foreclosure Relief Center to Copiague on Friday, August 10th. The Mobile Center will be stationed in front of the Copiague Library, located at 50 Deauville Boulevard in Copiague, from 11 am to 7 pm to assist residents in danger of losing their homes.

     As part of the program, DFS specialists will be available to speak individually with homeowners facing foreclosure, assess where they are in the pre-foreclosure or foreclosure process, and provide them with:
