Senator Fuschillo Applauds Fines For Local Gas Stations Convicted Of Price Gouging

Senator Charles J. Fuschillo, Jr. (8th Senate District), Chairman of the Senate’s Consumer Protection Committee, today applauded the New York State Attorney General’s office for uncovering and fining two local gas stations that engaged in price gouging. The Attorney General launched the investigation into gas price gouging, which was called for by Senator Fuschillo and other elected officials from across the state, in the wake of Hurricane Katrina. The investigation is still ongoing.

Senator Fuschillo Wins State Grant For Restoration Of Lindenhurst Soccer Fields

Senator Charles J. Fuschillo, Jr. (8th Senate District) announced today that he secured a $7,500 state grant for the Lindenhurst Junior Squires Soccer League. The funding will help the league restore two soccer fields at Shore Road Park. Senator Fuschillo Strengthens Lemon Law Protections

Senator Charles J. Fuschillo, Jr. (8th Senate District), the Chairman of the Senate Consumer Protection Committee, announced that a consumer friendly amendment to New York State’s Lemon Laws is now in effect. The new law, which Senator Fuschillo sponsored, will require that any proceedings arising out of Lemon Law arbitrations are held at a location that is convenient for the consumer.To resolve disputes regarding defective motor vehicles, consumers may use the arbitration program, which is run through the New York State Attorney General’s office.

Senator Fuschillo Wins State Funding For Merrick Film Forum

Senator Charles J. Fuschillo, Jr. (8th Senate District) announced today that he secured $5,000 in state grant funding for the Merrick Film Forum, which will help offset the group’s programming and operational expenses. Now entering its 48th season, the Merrick Film Forum currently has approximately 100 members. The group presents a unique format of films with interesting and lively speakers leading discussions of those films. The films are usually shown on the first Friday of the month between October and May at the Merrick Avenue Middle School.

The scouts, who were chaperoned by their leader Samantha Rosen and other parents, visited Senator Fuschillo as part of their scouting requirements.Senator Fuschillo explained to the young scouts how state government works and what his duties are as a state senator. Afterwards, the scouts had the opportunity to ask Senator Fuschillo questions and offer ideas about new laws.

Fuschillo, Jr. (8th Senate District) at the Long Island National Cemetery in Farmingdale to thank him for a new law he sponsored that will direct more visitors to honor our nation’s fallen heroes and veterans. At the request of veterans groups, Senator Fuschillo sponsored the law permitting the New York State Department of Transportation (DOT) to post "Long Island National Cemetery" signs on the east and westbound sides of the Long Island Expressway at Exit 49 South and the Southern State Parkway at Exit 35 - Wellwood Avenue.
