Senator Fuschillo And Assemblyman Weisenberg Propose New Restrictions For Tanning Salons

Senator Charles J. Fuschillo, Jr. (8th Senate District) and Assemblyman Harvey Weisenberg (20th Assembly District) announced today that they introduced legislation which would impose new safety restrictions on tanning salons. Under the provisions of this legislation, children between the ages of fourteen and eighteen would be required to have their parents sign a statement acknowledging that they have read the required safety notices already issued by the Department of Health before using the tanning equipment.

Senator Fuschillo Drops First Puck At Vytra Cup Game

Senator Charles J. Fuschillo, Jr. (8th Senate District) recently dropped the ceremonial first puck at the 2005 Vytra Cup game, which was held at the Nassau Coliseum. Now in its ninth year, the Vytra Cup game pits high school hockey all-stars from Nassau County against those from Suffolk County. This year, the event drew approximately 5,000 spectators.

Senator Fuschillo Secures Funding For Energy Conservation Program

Senator Charles J. Fuschillo, Jr. (8th Senate District) announced $25,000 in state funding for the creation of a Fuel Cell Learning Center at Farmingdale State University. The project will benefit from funding secured through an example of interagency cooperation among Senator Fuschillo, Suffolk County and the Towns of Babylon and Huntington. The Fuel Cell Learning Center will be headed by Dr. Hazem Tawfik through the Institute for Research and Technology Transfer. There are plans to create a mock model home powered by hydrogen fuel cells.

Kennedy High School Receives State Grant From Senator Fuschillo

Senator Charles J. Fuschillo, Jr. (8th Senate District) and Assemblyman David G. McDonough (19th Assembly District) announced that they secured $50,000 in state grant funding for Kennedy High School. $35,000 of the total grant funding helped pay for improvements to the school’s weight room. New, modern equipment was purchased and the room was refurbished as well. The facility is utilized by the school’s sports teams, as well as by other students."The entire Kennedy High School community is extremely grateful for Senator Fuschillo’s grant.

Senator Fuschillo Wins State Grant For Bellmore Public Schools

Senator Charles J. Fuschillo, Jr. (8th Senate District) and Assemblyman David G. McDonough (19th Assembly District) announced today that they procured $30,000 in state grant funding for Bellmore Public Schools. The school district used the funds to make computer system upgrades and repairs to playground equipment. $21,000 in grant funding enabled the district to upgrade its technology program through the purchase of a new server and 27 thin client terminals with flat screen monitors.

Senator Fuschillo Secures Funding For Long Island Jewish Hearing And Speech Center

Senator Charles J. Fuschillo, Jr. (8th Senate District) announced that he has secured $30,000 in state funding for the Long Island Jewish (LIJ) Hearing and Speech Center. The new funding will help offset the cost of expanding the hospital’s Cochlear Implant Program. According to the National Institute of Deafness and Other Communication Disorders, the cochlear implant is a device surgically implanted under the skin to provide a sense of sound to a person with hearing loss.
