Senator Fuschillo speaks with former Roosevelt School District Superintendent Dr. Ulysses Byas during the grand opening of the newly renovated school which bears Dr. Byas' name. Construction was necessary because the old building had become structurally unsound and unsafe. Students now have a new, modern structure to conduct their studies.
State Senators Charles J. Fuschillo, Jr. (8th Senate District) and Kemp Hannon (6th Senate District) recently welcomed members of the Farmingdale Lobby Committee to the State Capitol in Albany. Members of the committee visited Albany to meet with Senator Fuschillo and Senator Hannon to discuss their legislative priorities, including the need for a regional cost factor so that Long Island gets its fair share of state education aid.
State Senator Charles J. Fuschillo, Jr. (8th Senate District) recently visited Old Mill Road Elementary School in North Merrick to serve as a guest reader to Mrs. Levitt’s and Mrs. Ward’s kindergarten class.
Senator Fuschillo read “House Mouse, Senate Mouse” by Peter and Cheryl Barnes to the students. The story allowed the children to learn in a fun way what Senator Fuschillo’s job is and how laws are made.
Afterwards, Senator Fuschillo listened to the students’ ideas for new laws.

Wantagh resident Joe Sugar (pictured left) recently met with State Senator Charles J. Fuschillo, Jr. (8th Senate District, pictured right) at the State Capitol in Albany as part of the New York State School Music Association’s (NYSSMA) annual "music in our schools" month. Mr. Sugar is a Past-President of NYSSMA and retired music educator.
Senator Fuschillo joined Mr. Sugar at a performance of the All-State Jazz Ensemble in the Empire State Plaza, where high school students played for an audience of legislators, staff members and Capitol visitors.
