Merrick Pediatric Dentistry, which recently relocated to a new location at 1756A Merrick Avenue in Merrick, is a child-friendly office which focuses on helping children maintain good dental and oral health and teaching them about good dental habits to keep their teeth healthy. Senator Fuschillo offered his best wishes to Dr. Rania Elbaz, the owner of Merrick Pediatric Dentistry, for many years of continued success.
Senator Charles J. Fuschillo, Jr. (R-Merrick) and the Suffolk County Sheriff’s Office will be sponsoring a free child ID card program in Lindenhurst. The program will take place on Friday, January 10th from 12-3 pm at the Lindenhurst Library (1 Lee Avenue, Lindenhurst).

Senator Charles J. Fuschillo, Jr. (R-Merrick) today helped open a new Child Care Center at Farmingdale State College. Senator Fuschillo and Assemblyman Robert Sweeney (D-Lindenhurst) helped secure $7.5 million in state funding for the new facility.
“This is another great addition to Farmingdale State College’s campus. This new, state of the art center will provide quality child care to students, staff, and community members with young children. I am pleased to have helped Farmingdale State College undertake this latest improvement project,” said Senator Fuschillo.

San Marzano’s, located at 38 Merrick Avenue in Merrick, is an Italian restaurant offering a variety of pizzas, calzones, appetizers, and deserts. Senator Fuschillo extended his best wishes to the staff at San Marzano’s for many years of success.
Senator Charles J. Fuschillo, Jr. (R-Merrick) is informing residents that New York State announced that Nassau and Suffolk Counties will be receiving over $750,000 in total combined grant funding to enhance their emergency preparedness capabilities.
“Our first responders are the front line of defense and put their lives on the line every day to protect our families. This new funding will give them additional resources to perform their duties and help keep our communities safe,” said Senator Fuschillo.
New York State Senator Charles J. Fuschillo, Jr. (R-Merrick) has requested that the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) and United States Department of Transportation conduct a comprehensive review and evaluate track conditions throughout the New York metropolitan region following yesterday's tragic train derailment in the Bronx. Four other derailments have also occurred in the New York metropolitan area this year.

“The derailment of a Metro-North train in the Bronx early this morning is a terrible tragedy which has already claimed several lives and resulted in numerous injuries. My thoughts and prayers are with all the victims of this derailment and my most heartfelt condolences go out to the families of those who lost their lives. I also thank the many first responders on the scene for everything they have done, and are continuing to do, to help the train’s passengers.
Senator Charles J. Fuschillo, Jr. (R-Merrick) announced that a new law he authored giving the New York State Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) stronger tools to combat fraud takes effect this Thursday, November 28th. The law allows DMV to impose sanctions on drivers who try obtain a driver's license or vehicle registration for free through a "charge back" fraud scheme.

With Thanksgiving and the holiday season approaching, Senator Charles J. Fuschillo, Jr. (R-Merrick) and Town of Hempstead Kate Murray today unveiled a new state-of-the-art mobile driver feedback sign which will help make local roads safer during this busy time of the year. Senator Fuschillo secured state funding for the Town of Hempstead to purchase the new safety sign.
With the Thanksgiving holiday approaching, and Thanksgiving Eve being one of the busiest bar nights of the year, Senator Charles J. Fuschillo, Jr. (R-Merrick) is urging residents to be safe, be smart, and don’t drink and drive. Senator Fuschillo also reminded drivers that New York State’s DWI laws are among the strongest in the country and that police will be stepping up enforcement to catch drunk drivers.
Senator Charles J. Fuschillo, Jr. (R-Merrick) is alerting residents about phone and email scams from individuals claiming to be from the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) or the New York State Department of Taxation and Finance. Scammers posing as IRS or State Tax Department officials are threatening New Yorkers with fines, arrest, and other penalties if they do not immediately pay a claim of owed taxes.
Senator Charles J. Fuschillo, Jr. (R-Merrick) recently congratulated North Bellmore resident Joel Meltzer on being honored by the United Cerebral Palsy Association of Nassau County (UCPN).
Mr. Meltzer received the Harold Jay Greenberg Torch of Leadership Award for outstanding community service and commitment. He is a long-time supporter of UCPN and the families it serves. He is a member of UCPN’s board of directors, is a lifetime member of UCPN’s auxiliary council, and has helped get others involved in supporting the work of UCPN. Mr. Meltzer is also a past recipient of UCPN’s Corporate Leadership Award.
Senator Charles J. Fuschillo, Jr. (R-Merrick) today was named a “2013 Legislative Champion” by Mothers Against Drunk Driving (MADD) New York. MADD selected Senator Fuschillo for the award for his leadership in the State Legislature in getting reforms to Leandra’s Law passed.
“I applaud today’s decision by the New York State Court of Appeals to uphold the convictions of three intoxicated offenders who tried to escape justice for killing innocent people by claiming they were too inebriated to be convicted of murder.
Senator Charles J. Fuschillo, Jr. (R-Merrick) and Town of Babylon Supervisor Rich Schaffer recently visited West Babylon to view a newly completed road improvement project. Senator Fuschillo secured state funding for the Town to make the improvements.
As part of the improvement project, the Town of Babylon rehabilitated Patton Avenue between Wellwood Avenue and Little East Neck Road. The road, which is an important and widely utilized part of a business area, was deteriorating and needed to be overhauled. Using the state funds, the Town of Babylon completely reconstructed and resurfaced the road.
