SENATOR FUSCHILLO TO SPONSOR NO OUT-OF-POCKET COST PROSTATE CANCER SCREENING PROGRAM IN FREEPORT

          Senator Charles J. Fuschillo, Jr. (R-Merrick), in conjunction with South Nassau Communities Hospital, will be sponsoring a no out-of-pocket cost prostate cancer screening program on Thursday, September 15th in Freeport.              Screenings will be conducted on September 15th between 4 pm -7 pm at the Freeport Recreation Center, which is located at 130 E. Merrick Road in Freeport.

GOVERNOR APPROVES FUSCHILLO BILL TO RENAME BRIDGE AFTER FALLEN NASSAU POLICE OFFICER

    Senator Charles J. Fuschillo, Jr. (R-Merrick) announced that Governor Andrew Cuomo has approved legislation he sponsors to rename a bridge after fallen Nassau County Police Officer Michael Califano.    “Michael Califano, like all police officers, put himself in harm’s way to keep us safe every single day. We must never forget the ultimate sacrifice he made in the line of duty. Renaming this bridge in Officer Califano’s honor will ensure that his heroism, sacrifice, and devoted service will always be remembered,” said Senator Fuschillo, Chairman of the Senate’s Transportation Committee.

    Senator Charles J. Fuschillo, Jr. (R-Merrick) recently congratulated Merrick resident Robert Kroll on being appointed to the MTA Inspector General Management Advisory Board.  Mr. Kroll was appointed by Senate Majority Leader Dean Skelos at the recommendation of Senator Fuschillo.    Members of the MTA Inspector General Advisory Board assist and work with the MTA Inspector General’s Office in its mission to provide independent oversight of the MTA and its subsidiary agencies, including the Long Island Rail Road.

Following the suspension of another eight charter bus operators for safety reasons, Senator Charles J. Fuschillo, Jr. (R-Merrick) today called on the Assembly to pass legislation he sponsors to require all bus drivers to submit to a criminal history check. Yesterday’s suspensions follow a string of fatal bus crashes over the last several months involving bus drivers with histories of criminal driving convictions.

SENATOR FUSCHILLO SALUTES THE WOUNDED WARRIORS

Senator Charles J. Fuschillo, Jr. (R-Merrick) today joined with hundreds of local residents and cyclists in support of the annual Wounded Warriors bike ride. The ride helped raise funds for the Wounded Warrior Project, which provides aid to seriously wounded military veterans. As part of the ride, over 30 Wounded Warriors, joined by hundreds of others local residents and cyclists, traveled 23 miles from Babylon Town Hall to Overlook Beach. Senator Fuschillo honored the Wounded Warriors at the ride’s kick-off ceremony hosted by Babylon Town Supervisor Steve Bellone at Babylon Town Hall.
