SENATOR FUSCHILLO AND ASSEMBLYMAN MORELLE ANNOUNCE AGREEMENT ON LANDMARK AUTISM INSURANCE REFORM

State Senator Charles J. Fuschillo, Jr. (R, Merrick) and Assemblyman Joseph D. Morelle (D, Rochester) today announced an agreement between the Legislature and the Governor’s office in support of legislation to enable individuals with autism spectrum disorders to receive insurance coverage for screening, diagnosis and treatment. The bill (S.4005-A) would save tens of thousands of dollars in out-of-pocket expenses spent by families caring for individuals with autism and address insurance companies’ refusal to cover costs for autism treatments and therapies.Autism Spectrum Disorders affect individuals of all ethnic, racial, and socioeconomic groups.

SENATE PASSES FUSCHILLO BILL TO GIVE LAW ENFORCEMENT NEW TOOL TO CATCH SUSPECTED DRUNK DRIVERS

           Senator Charles J. Fuschillo, Jr. (R-Merrick) today announced that the New York State Senate has passed legislation he sponsors to better enable law enforcement to catch suspected drunk drivers. The legislation (S3768B) would help prevent drunk drivers from escaping prosecution for DWI crimes by allowing law enforcement to seek court orders to compel when suspected drunk drivers refuse to submit to chemical intoxication tests.

          Senator Charles J. Fuschillo, Jr. (R-Merrick) today announced that the New York State Senate has passed his "complete streets" legislation which would help make roadways safer for all who use them.

          The legislation would require all state, county, and local transportation agencies to consider complete streets design principles on all projects which receive both federal and state funding. The legislation was developed in consultation with all interested parties, including the New York State Department of Transportation, the Governor, the Assembly, County and Town Highway Superintendents, and advocacy groups.

SENATE PASSES FUSCHILLO BILL TO RAISE PENALTIES ON TOLL DODGING DRIVERS

             Senator Charles J. Fuschillo, Jr. (R-Merrick) today announced that the Senate has passed legislation he sponsors to raise penalties on drivers who try to evade tolls on toll roads, which costs millions of dollars in revenue each year. The legislation would make the penalty for evading a toll consistent with the penalties for evading other public fares such as subway and taxi fares.
