Senator Charles J. Fuschillo, Jr. (R-Merrick) recently held an informational webcast to help students and parents better confront the dangers of cyber-bullying. The webcast was streamed live on Senator Fuschillo's website, fuschillo.nysenate.gov.
The webcast featured an informational discussion about cyber bullying and the impact it has on children. Students learned about steps they can take if they are being bullied, as well as the importance of looking out for each other and not being a bystander when cyber-bullying occurs. In addition, parents learned about the warning signs to spot if their child might be being bullied. Information was also provided on where students affected by cyber bullying can turn for help.

Senator Charles J. Fuschillo, Jr. (R-Merrick) announced that Governor Andrew Cuomo recently signed a new law to help prevent violent felons and sexual predators from becoming school bus drivers. The law, which Senator Fuschillo supported in the Senate, will expand the list of convictions that disqualify individuals from being employed as a school bus driver.

Senator Charles J. Fuschillo, Jr. (R-Merrick) recently sponsored a free child safety seat check where parents could have their children’s car seats checked for proper installation. The program was held at John Burns Park in Massapequa Park.
Officials from the Nassau County Traffic Safety Board performed the free safety inspections and fixed any seats that were improperly installed. Parents were also informed of the steps they should take to make sure their child’s car seat is used properly in the future.
Senator Charles J. Fuschillo, Jr. (R-Merrick) announced that the New York State Senate recently passed legislation he sponsored to strengthen New York State’s ban on dangerous drop-side cribs. The legislation would expand the state’s existing drop-side crib ban to prohibit drop-side cribs from being used at child-care facilities and other places of public accommodation. The legislation is necessary to ensure that New York’s law conforms with federal regulations.
Senator Charles J. Fuschillo, Jr. (R-Merrick) and Nassau County Executive Ed Mangano will be sponsoring a free KidPix photo ID program in North Merrick. The program will be held on Thursday, June 20th from 3 pm to 6 pm at the North Merrick Library (1691 Meadowbrook Road, North Merrick).
