FUSCHILLO ANNOUNCES FINAL LEGISLATIVE APPROVAL OF LEGISLATION ASSISTING PEOPLE WITH LYMPHEDEMA

Senator Charles J. LI Herald: Legislator wants autism treatments covered

State Sen. Charles Fuschillo Jr., a Republican from Merrick, has introduced legislation to ensure that people with autism receive insurance coverage for the screening, diagnosis and treatment of autism spectrum disorders.

Currently, those with autism are routinely denied insurance benefits for the treatment of their disorder, forcing their families to pay for costly treatments.

Senator Fuschillo Votes for Autism Insurance Reform Law

New York State Senator Charles J. Fuschillo, Jr. (R-Merrick) votes to enact an autism insurance reform law which would enable individuals with autism to receive insurance coverage for the screening, diagnosis, and treatment of autism spectrum disorders. The legislation, which Senator Fuschillo sponsored, has been passed by the New York State Senate and Assembly.

Lt. Governor Duffy applauds the Senate passage of autism insurance reform legislation, sponsored by Senator Fuschillo, which would enable individuals with autism to receive insurance coverage for the screening, diagnosis, and treatment of autism spectrum disorders. Senator Fuschillo thanks the Lt. Governor for supporting the legislation, which would give families with autism access to treatment coverage just like any other condition and ensure that they are not denied services solely because of an autism diagnosis.

SENATOR FUSCHILLO AND ASSEMBLYMAN McDONOUGH ATTEND AUTISM WALK AT JONES BEACH

Senator Charles J. Fuschillo, Jr. (R-Merrick) and Assemblyman Dave McDonough (R-North Merrick) recently attended Autism Speaks’ annual “Long Island Walk Now for Autism” at Jones Beach State Park. Over 30,000 people participated in the walk to raise money for research that aims to find a cure for autism spectrum disorders.

Senator Fuschillo thanked the walkers for their efforts and congratulated Merrick resident Michael Giangregorio, who served as Chairman of the Walk, on putting together a successful event. According to Autism Speaks, the walk raised over $1.3 million for autism research.

SENATOR FUSCHILLO’S AUTISM INSURANCE REFORM LEGISLATION SIGNED BY GOVERNOR CUOMO

Senator Charles J. Fuschillo, Jr. (R-Merrick) today announced that legislation he sponsors to enable individuals with autism spectrum disorders to receive insurance coverage for screening, diagnosis and treatment has been signed by Governor Andrew Cuomo. The new law will save families with autism tens of thousands of dollars a year in out of pocket costs for autism treatment and therapies which many insurance companies refuse to cover.
