Senator Charles J. Fuschillo, Jr. (R-Merrick) announced that residents will be able to receive assistance with insurance issues related to Hurricane Sandy at anytime of the day or night.
The New York State Department of Financial Services’ insurance disaster assistance helpline is operating 24 hours a day, 7 days a week to provide help to those in need. Consumers can also file insurance-related complaints with the Department through the helpline.
Residents and businesses who need assistance with storm related questions or issues can call the Department of Financial Services’ helpline at 1-800-339-1759.

Morelle (D, Rochester) today announced an agreement between the Legislature and the Governor’s office in support of legislation to enable individuals with autism spectrum disorders to receive insurance coverage for screening, diagnosis and treatment. The bill (S.4005-A) would save tens of thousands of dollars in out-of-pocket expenses spent by families caring for individuals with autism and address insurance companies’ refusal to cover costs for autism treatments and therapies.Autism Spectrum Disorders affect individuals of all ethnic, racial, and socioeconomic groups.

Following a New York State Department of Financial Services (DFS) investigation which recovered $386 million in unpaid life insurance benefits for New Yorkers, Senator Charles J. Fuschillo, Jr. (R-Merrick) is informing residents how they can check and see if they are entitled to unpaid life insurance benefits.
“There are hundreds of millions of dollars in unpaid life insurance benefits which are owed to New York families. Using the Department of Financial Services’ free lost policy finder, families can find out more about these benefits and see if they may be entitled to unpaid funds,” said Senator Fuschillo.
