SENATOR FUSCHILLO ANNOUNCES EXPANSION OF PFC JOSEPH DWYER PTSD VETERANS COUNSELING PROGRAM TO NASSAU COUNTY

     Senator Charles J. Fuschillo, Jr. (R-Merrick) recently announced the creation of a peer to peer veterans counseling program in Nassau County to help veterans suffering from Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) and Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI). Senator Fuschillo joined with Senator Dean Skelos, Senator Lee Zeldin, Nassau County Executive Ed Mangano, and local veterans in announcing funding for the PFC Joseph Dwyer Program, which was included in the 2013-2014 state budget.

"Today we honor and pay tribute to true American heroes; our veterans.

Since the birth of our nation, America has been a beacon of hope and opportunity because of the freedoms its citizens enjoy. But the freedoms and opportunities that are the cornerstones of the "American Dream" would not exist without the American heroes who fought to protect them throughout our history. Every American veteran deserves our respect, gratitude, and appreciation for their service.

     Senator Charles J. Fuschillo, Jr. (R-Merrick) recently congratulated Marine Corps Corporal Kevin Vaughan of North Merrick on being inducted into the New York State Senate’s Veterans’ Hall of Fame. Corporal Vaughan was named to the Senate’s Veterans’ Hall of Fame by Senator Fuschillo.

SENATOR FUSCHILLO ANNOUNCES NEW LAW TO HELP RETURNING VETERANS FIND EMPLOYMENT

     Senator Charles J. Fuschillo, Jr. (R-Merrick) announced today that legislation he supported to continue helping returning veterans find employment has been signed into law by Governor Andrew Cuomo.

     The new law will create an employment portal on the Division of Veterans’ Affairs (DVA) website that will include links to appropriate federal and state governmental programs that assist veterans in obtaining employment.

SENATOR FUSCHILLO JOINS KOREAN WAR VETERANS IN DEDICATING NEW KOREAN WAR MEMORIAL IN BELLMORE

Senator Charles J. Fuschillo, Jr. (R-Merrick) recently joined with members of the Korean War Veterans of Nassau County in dedicating a new memorial to those who served during the Korean War.

The memorial , which was added as part of the Bellmore Veterans Memorial, was erected in honor of all the Bellmore residents who fought in the Korean War.

SENATOR FUSCHILLO SALUTES WOUNDED WARRIORS

     Senator Charles J. Fuschillo, Jr. (R-Merrick) recently joined with local residents and veterans to support the over 1,100 participants of the annual Wounded Warrior Project’s Soldier Ride.

     Senator Fuschillo saluted the riders at the kick-off ceremony held at Babylon Town Hall. Senator Fuschillo then joined with members of the VFW Post 7223 and the Amityville Historical Society in cheering on the riders as they passed through downtown Amityville on their way to Overlook Beach.

SENATOR FUSCHILLO INVITES LOCAL VETERANS TO FREE VETERANS APPRECIATION BREAKFAST

     Senator Charles J. Fuschillo, Jr. (R-Merrick) announced that he will once again be sponsoring a free breakfast for veterans as a way to thank them for their service to our country and communities.

     “We can never thank our veterans enough for their service. The veterans appreciation breakfast is a small token of gratitude for the veterans who have done so much for our country and community. I invite all local veterans to attend,” said Senator Fuschillo.
