SENATOR FUSCHILLO & COUNTY EXECUTIVE MANGANO SPONSOR FREE KIDPIX PHOTO ID PROGRAM IN WANTAGH

     Senator Charles J. Fuschillo, Jr. (R-Merrick) and Nassau County Executive Ed Mangano recently sponsored a free KidPix photo ID program in Wantagh. 

     Families who participated in the program received a free, wallet sized kidpix card with their child’s name, physical description, contact information, fingerprint, and photograph. In the event that a child goes missing, parents can give the KidPix card to law enforcement as a helpful tool to help return the child home more quickly.

SENATOR FUSCHILLO & TOBACCO ACTION COALITION OF LONG ISLAND CELEBRATE 10TH ANNIVERSARY OF THE EXPANDED CLEAN INDOOR AIR ACT

     Senator Charles J. Fuschillo, Jr. (R-Merrick) and the Tobacco Action Coalition of Long Island today celebrated the 10th anniversary of New York State’s expanded Clean Indoor Air Act. Senator Fuschillo authored the law to help protect individuals from the dangers of secondhand smoke. 

     “New York State’s expanded Clean Indoor Air Act was enacted to save lives and protect individuals from the dangers of secondhand smoke. As we have seen over the last 10 years, the law is working. Public health has improved, public support for the law continues to be strong, and New Yorkers are safer from the harmful effects of secondhand-smoke,” said Senator Fuschillo.

SENATOR FUSCHILLO: STRONGER PENALTIES FOR DISTRACTED DRIVING TAKE EFFECT JULY 26TH

     Senator Charles J. Fuschillo, Jr. (R-Merrick), Chairman of the New York State Senate’s Transportation Committee, announced that higher fines for distracted driving will take effect on July 26th. The new penalties were included as part of the state budget.

     Senator Dean G. Skelos (R-Rockville Centre), Senator Charles J. Fuschillo, Jr. (R-Merrick), and Nassau County Executive Ed Mangano will be sponsoring a free KidPix photo ID program in Baldwin. The program will be held on Tuesday, August 6th from 1-3 pm at the Baldwin Library.

     The KidPix program gives parents a convenient way to keep their children’s important information on a single, wallet sized ID card. The KidPix card includes the child’s name, physical description, contact information, and photograph. The child’s fingerprint is also included on the back of the card. In the event that a child goes missing, parents can give the KidPix card to law enforcement as a helpful tool to help return the child home more quickly.

SENATOR FUSCHILLO SALUTES THE WOUNDED WARRIORS

     Senator Charles J. Fuschillo, Jr. (R-Merrick) recently joined with local residents and veterans to support the 1,000 participants of the annual Wounded Warrior Project’s Soldier Ride.

     Senator Fuschillo saluted the riders at the kick-off ceremony held at Babylon Town Hall. Senator Fuschillo then joined with members of the VFW Post 7223 and the Amityville Historical Society in cheering on the riders as they passed through downtown Amityville on their way to Overlook Beach.

SENATOR FUSCHILLO & TOWN OF BABYLON SPONSOR FREE SENIOR ID CARD PROGRAM IN LINDENHURST

     Senator Charles J. Fuschillo, Jr. (R-Merrick) and the Town of Babylon recently sponsored a free Senior ID Card Program for Town of Bablyon residents at the Rainbow Senior Center in Lindenhurst. 

     The program allowed Town of Babylon residents ages 60 and over to obtain a free wallet-sized senior ID card. The card includes their photo and personal data, physician’s contact information, and emergency contact phone numbers which could be useful to paramedics in a medical emergency.

SENATOR FUSCHILLO INFORMS RESIDENTS HOW TO FIND OUT IF THEY ARE ENTITLED TO UNPAID LIFE INSURANCE BENEFITS

      Following a New York State Department of Financial Services (DFS) investigation which recovered $386 million in unpaid life insurance benefits for New Yorkers, Senator Charles J. Fuschillo, Jr. (R-Merrick) is informing residents how they can check and see if they are entitled to unpaid life insurance benefits. 

     “There are hundreds of millions of dollars in unpaid life insurance benefits which are owed to New York families. Using the Department of Financial Services’ free lost policy finder, families can find out more about these benefits and see if they may be entitled to unpaid funds,” said Senator Fuschillo.

SENATOR FUSCHILLO THANKS RESIDENTS FOR SAFELY DISPOSING OF NEARLY 1,000 POUNDS OF UNWANTED MEDICATION THROUGH “SHED THE MEDS” PROGRAM

     Senator Charles J. Fuschillo, Jr. (R-Merrick) today thanked the over 400 residents from across the south shore who participated in his recent “Shed the Meds” program. The program collected nearly 1,000 pounds of expired and unwanted medications for safe disposal.

     “Safely disposing of medication helps to prevent pollution and keep it out of the hands of children and others who would use it improperly. That’s exactly what ‘Shed the Meds’ allows residents to do. Through the efforts of all the residents who participated, nearly 1,000 pounds of medications were kept out of the waterways and off the streets,” said Senator Fuschillo (R-Merrick).

SENATOR FUSCHILLO, SENATOR SKELOS, AND COUNTY EXECUTIVE MANGANO TO SPONSOR PROPERTY TAX EXEMPTIONS WORKSHOP IN BALDWIN

Senator Charles J. Fuschillo, Jr. (R-Merrick), Senator Dean G. Skelos (R-Rockville Centre), and Nassau County Executive Ed Mangano will be sponsoring a Property Tax Exemption Workshop on Friday, July 26th from 1 pm to 3 pm at the Baldwin Library (2385 Grand Avenue, Baldwin).

Tax exemption specialists from the Nassau County Department of Assessment will be equipped with computers linked to the county’s database, and property tax exemption applications for Basic STAR, Enhanced STAR, senior citizens, individuals with disabilities, veterans, volunteer firefighters and emergency medical technicians will be processed. Tax exemption specialists will also provide assistance and answer any questions residents have about these exemptions.

     Senator Charles J. Fuschillo, Jr. (R-Merrick) recently congratulated Freeport resident George N. Boulukos on receiving the prestigious Silver Buffalo Award from the Boy Scouts of America. 

     The Silver Buffalo Award, scouting’s highest commendation, is a national award for distinguished service to youth. It is awarded only to individuals who give truly noteworthy and extraordinary service to youth on a national level.

     The program will be held from 10:00 am- 12:00 pm on Tuesday, July 30th at the North Bellmore Library, located at 1551 Newbridge Road in North Bellmore. All Nassau County residents ages 65 and over are eligible to participate and receive a free senior ID card. No appointments are necessary.

SENATOR FUSCHILLO MEETS WITH NEW MTA BOARD MEMBER FROM WANTAGH

     Senator Charles J. Fuschillo, Jr. (R-Merrick), Chairman of the Senate's Transportation Committee, recently met with newly appointed Metropolitan Transportation Authority (MTA) Board member, and Wantagh resident, John Molloy. Mr. Molloy was recently confirmed by the New York State Senate to his new position.

     Senator Fuschillo congratulated Mr. Molloy on his new position and discussed a number of issues with him, including the future of the MTA, current MTA & LIRR services, and the need to cut costs and avoid fare increases to help make the MTA more affordable for residents.

New York State Senator Charles J. Fuschillo, Jr. (R-Merrick) recently joined with the Village of Amityville in celebrating Independence Day by marching in the Village’s Fourth of July Parade. The parade is an annual tradition in the Amityville community.

SENATOR FUSCHILLO AND COUNTY EXECUTIVE MANGANO SPONSOR FREE SENIOR ID CARD PROGRAM IN MERRICK

     Senator Charles J. Fuschillo, Jr. (R-Merrick) and Nassau County Executive Ed Mangano recently sponsored a free Senior ID Card Program in Merrick.

     The program offered seniors ages 65 or older a free wallet-sized ID card which includes a photo, the holder’s personal contact information (name, address, phone number, date of birth), and an emergency contact name and phone number which could be useful to emergency responders. Seniors can carry the card in their wallet so that emergency responders will know who to contact if the senior is in an emergency situation and cannot communicate.
