Senator Fuschillo obtained $150,000 in grant funding for the two projects.The Town will use the grant funding to complete 2 new improvement projects. The first project will be a streetscape renewal project along Merrick Avenue. New decorative brickwork and street lighting will be installed along the east side of Merrick Avenue, between Miller Place and Loines Avenue.

Fuschillo, Jr. (8th Senate District) announced that the New York State Senate passed a comprehensive energy plan that places a cap on gasoline sales taxes and provides new financial incentives for utilizing alternative energy sources. The plan was recently approved during a special legislative session in Albany. "With the rapidly increasing price of both gasoline and home heating oil, government needs to provide consumers with some financial relief," said Senator Fuschillo, who voted in favor of the plan.

Fuschillo, Jr. (8th Senate District), the Chairman of the Senate’s Consumer Protection Committee and a member of the Senate’s Transportation Committee, announced today that he is sponsoring legislation that would increase the maximum fine that may be imposed for price gouging.Senator Fuschillo, who focused attention on the issue of price gouging during the recent gasoline price surge after Hurricane Katrina, is seeking to raise the maximum fine from $10,000 to a new maximum of $25,000 for those who violate New York State price gouging laws.

Fuschillo, Jr. (8th Senate District), a member of the Senate’s Transportation Committee, is announcing that the New York State Department of Transportation will be undertaking an intensive litter removal program on state roadways in both Nassau and Suffolk Counties. "Keep Long Island Highways Clean Week", which will begin Monday, September 26th and run through Friday, September 30th, is an intensive effort to remove litter and debris from Long Island’s major highways and to encourage drivers to stop littering.

The "Information Security Breach and Notification Act", which takes effect in early December, will require all companies and state agencies whose files containing consumers’ private financial information are acquired by unauthorized individuals to notify those consumers in New York State.
