SENATOR FUSCHILLO HOLDS VETERANS APPRECIATION BREAKFAST TO THANK VETERANS FOR SERVING OUR COUNTRY

     Senator Charles J. Fuschillo, Jr. (R-Merrick) recently held a veterans appreciation breakfast as a way to say “thank you” to the veterans in his Senate district. 

     “We can never thank our veterans enough for their service to our country and community. This event is a small way to show our appreciation and admiration for the local heroes who defended our freedom. I am pleased so many veterans were able to participate,” said Senator Fuschillo.

SENATOR FUSCHILLO THANKS NORTH BELLMORE RESIDENT FOR SERVING AS A STUDENT INTERN IN HIS OFFICE

     Senator Charles J. Fuschillo, Jr. (R-Merrick) recently thanked Britney Gringer of North Bellmore for serving as a student intern in his district office this summer. 

     During her internship, Britney assisted Senator Fuschillo and his staff with community programs, research, constituent services, and informational outreach. Britney is a student at the University of Massachusetts-Amherst where she is pursuing a degree in communications.

     “We really enjoyed working with Britney this summer,” said Senator Fuschillo. “She is an intelligent young woman who was a tremendous help in my office. We thank her for her hard work and wish her nothing but the best.”

Breast Cancer Screening Program- Freeport

     New York State Senator Charles J. Fuschillo, Jr. (R-Merrick) and Assemblyman Brian Curran (R-Lynbrook), in conjunction with NuHealth/Nassau Health Care Corporation, will be sponsoring a breast cancer screening program on Tuesday, November 12th from 8:45 am to 12:00 pm at the Freeport Library (144 West Merrick Road, Freeport). 

     Appointments are necessary and will be scheduled on a first-come, first-served basis. On site nurses and technicians will provide a mammography, a clinical breast examination and instructions for self examination. Patients and their physicians will be notified of the exam results.

Prostate Cancer Screening- Freeport

     Senator Charles J. Fuschillo, Jr. (R-Merrick), in conjunction with South Nassau Communities Hospital, will be sponsoring a free prostate cancer screening program on Thursday, September 12th in Freeport. 

     Screenings will be conducted on September 12th between 4 and 7 pm at the Freeport Recreation Center, which is located at 130 East Merrick Road in Freeport.

Skin Cancer Screening Program- Wantagh

     New York State Senator Charles J. Fuschillo, Jr. (R-Merrick) and the Colette Coyne Melanoma Awareness Campaign (CCMAC) will be sponsoring a free skin cancer screening program to help protect residents from skin cancer.

     The free skin cancer screening program will be held on Thursday, August 22nd from 12 pm to 3:30 pm at the Wantagh Park Pool, which is located on 1 King Road in Wantagh, just off of Merrick Road. Residents will be served on a first come, first served basis; no appointments are required. Screenings will be conducted by trained physicians, including Dr. Jeff Ellis and Dr. Amy Slear from Belaray Dermatology, Dr. Steve McClain of McClain Labs, and doctors from Stony Brook Dermatology.

SENATOR FUSCHILLO & COUNTY EXECUTIVE MANGANO SPONSOR FREE KIDPIX PHOTO ID PROGRAM IN MASSAPEQUA PARK

     Senator Charles J. Fuschillo, Jr. (R-Merrick) and Nassau County Executive Ed Mangano recently sponsored a free KidPix photo ID program in Massapequa Park. 

     Families who participated in the program received a free, wallet sized kidpix card with their child’s name, physical description, contact information, fingerprint, and photograph. In the event that a child goes missing, parents can give the KidPix card to law enforcement as a helpful tool to help return the child home more quickly.

Property Tax Exemptions Workshop-Massapequa Park

     Senator Charles J. Fuschillo, Jr. (R-Merrick), Nassau County Executive Ed Mangano, and Nassau County Legislator Mike Venditto will be sponsoring a Property Tax Exemption Workshop on Friday, August 23rd from 1 pm to 3 pm at the Massapequa Library (40 Harbor Lane, Massapequa Park).

     Tax exemption specialists from the Nassau County Department of Assessment will be equipped with computers linked to the county’s database, and property tax exemption applications for Basic STAR, Enhanced STAR, senior citizens, individuals with disabilities, veterans, volunteer firefighters and emergency medical technicians will be processed. Tax exemption specialists will also provide assistance and answer any questions residents have about these exemptions.

Makes the Killing of Police Animals a Felony

     Senator Charles J. Fuschillo, Jr. (R-Merrick) recently announced that legislation he cosponsored making the killing of a police animal a felony has been signed into law by Governor Andrew Cuomo. Specially-trained police animals, particularly dogs and horses, are often put in harm's way when they are relied upon by law enforcement to keep New Yorkers safe. The new law will hold individuals who kill these animals accountable.

SENATOR FUSCHILLO ANNOUNCES INITIATIVE TO SUSPEND DRIVER LICENSES OF TAX DELINQUENTS WHO OWE MORE THAN $10,000 IN BACK TAXES

16,000 Tax Scofflaws Put on Notice

     Senator Charles J. Fuschillo, Jr. (R-Merrick) recently announced a new initiative to encourage individuals who owe significant back taxes to pay their bills. Under the new program, New York State will suspend a taxpayer’s driver’s license when their past-due tax liability exceeds $10,000. The crackdown is the result of legislation enacted in this year’s budget.

Hurricane Preparedness Seminar

Assemblyman Dave McDonough (R,C,I-Merrick) and Senator Charles Fuschillo, Jr., recently announced they will be co-hosting a hurricane preparedness program on Tuesday, August 13 at the Town of Hempstead-Merrick Road Park, 2550 Clubhouse Road, Merrick, NY 11566 at 7:00 p.m. During the event, representatives from the Nassau County Office of Emergency Management will be on hand to provide residents with tips on how to prepare for future natural disasters.
