Senator Fuschillo, D.A. Rice, And Assemblyman Weisenberg Announce New Law To Charge Drunk Drivers Who Kill With Homicide

State Senator Charles J. Fuschillo, Jr., Nassau County District Attorney Kathleen Rice and Assemblyman Harvey Weisenberg today announced that a new state law which creates the charges of aggravated vehicular homicide for drunk drivers who kill others and aggravated vehicular assault for drunk drivers who cause injuries, will go into effect on November 1st. "This new law will give prosecutors in New York State the tools they need to appropriately charge drunk drivers who kill or injure others," said Senator Fuschillo (R, Merrick). "Just last week, yet another driver drove drunk on the wrong side of the highway, and killed an Amityville man coming home from work. Enough is enough. We need to end this epidemic of drunk driving.

Senator Fuschillo, Li Senators Urge MTA To Withdraw Fare Increase Plan

State Senator Charles J. Fuschillo, Jr. (R-Merrick) recently joined with other members of the Long Island Senate Delegation to urge the Metropolitan Transportation Authority ("MTA") to withdraw its plan to raise fares and tolls in 2008, 2010 and every two years thereafter."Enough is enough. LIRR commuters do not need to see any more of their hard earned money going to finance a transit system that is supposed to work for them, rather than against them.

Legislation Cosponsored By Senator Fuschillo Requiring Social Security Numbers To Obtain A Driver License Passed By State Senate

The State Senatehas passed legislation, cosponsored by Senator Charles J. Fuschillo, Jr. (R-Merrick) that would stop Governor Eliot Spitzer’s plan to allow individuals without a social security number to obtain a New York State driver license or non-driver identification card. Under the legislation, all individuals applying for a driver license or non-driver identification card would have to submit a valid social security number.

Senator Fuschillo’s Legislation Providing Roosevelt School District With Financial Stability Gains Senate Approval

The New York State Senate today approved legislation sponsored by Senator Charles J. Fuschillo, Jr. (R-Merrick) that would close the Roosevelt School District’s multi-million dollar budget deficit.

The legislation (S. 6508) would provide the school district with a grant of up to $8 million without any cost to Roosevelt taxpayers to help eliminate the district’s budget deficit.

Senate Approves Fuschillo Bill For Installation Of Cameras At 50 Nassau County Intersections To Help Improve Traffic Safety

State Senate Charles J. Fuschillo, Jr. (R-Merrick) today announced that the Senate has approved legislation that he sponsors that would permit the installation of 50 "red-light" cameras at high-risk intersections throughout Nassau County in an effort to improve traffic safety. The cameras would take digital images of the license plates of vehicles running red lights. The County would then mail a summons of up to $50 to the cars’ registered owners whenever a camera captures a violation.

Local Seniors Take Part In Senator Fuschillo’s Golden Gathering

Senior Citizens from Baldwin to West Babylon came to the Freeport Recreation Center yesterday to take part in Senator Charles J. Fuschillo, Jr.’s (8th Senate District) annual Golden Gathering.

Seniors who attended Senator Fuschillo’s Golden Gathering were able to receive free flu & pneumonia vaccinations, information from over 90 different government agencies and local not-for-profit organizations, free health screenings, and obtain a passport through the Town of Hempstead’s Town Clerk’s Office.

McDonough (19th Assembly District) today congratulated the coaches and players from the Long Island Blue Demons on winning the Babe Ruth World Series Championship.The Blue Demons were the first Long Island team ever to win the Babe Ruth World Series in the 13-15 year old age bracket. State Senator Charles J. Fuschillo, Jr. (8th Senate District) announced today that he introduced legislation to help relieve the Roosevelt School District’s multi-million dollar budget deficit.

Senator Fuschillo: Do Not Call List Requires Re-registering After Five Years, New Yorkers Urged To Re-enroll To Continue Blocking Unwanted Telemarketers

Senator Charles J. Fuschillo, Jr. announced today that many of the telephone numbers listed on the National Do Not Call Registry, which protects people from unwanted telemarketing calls, will begin to expire on July 1, 2008. Telephone numbers stay on the Do Not Call list for only five years and must be re-registered to stay on the list longer than that.
