Senate Consumer Protection Committee Hearing Examines Incidents Of Air Passengers Stranded On Planes At New York Airports

The State Senate Committee on Consumer Protection conducted a public hearing today at JFK International Airport to examine recent incidents of airline passengers being trapped on planes at New York airports for several hours and what can be done to improve conditions for passengers stranded on planes. Hearing discussion also focused on state legislation sponsored by Senator Charles J. Fuschillo, Jr., Chairman of the Consumer Protection Committee, which would provide passengers trapped on planes with certain amenities to make their wait more tolerable.

Senator Fuschillo: Senate Approves Measure To Expand And Enhance The Dna Database

State Senator Charles J. Fuschillo, Jr. announced today that the Senate has approved legislation that he co-sponsored to expand the state’s DNA database to include samples from every person convicted of a crime. The measure would also improve the methods for collection and preservation of DNA evidence and extend the statute of limitations for cases based on DNA evidence. Senator Fuschillo's Legislation To Strengthen State's "do Not Call" Registry Law Approved By Senate

State Senator Charles J. Fuschillo, Jr. announced that the State Senate this week approved legislation that he sponsored to bring New York State’s "Do Not Call" law into compliance with the National "Do Not Call" law, to better protect New York consumers from unsolicited telemarketing calls. Under the legislation, telemarketers and businesses would have to update their New York State "Do Not Call" list every 31 days rather than every 90 days under current law.

After winning the 2006 New York State Little League Championship, players and coaches from the Merrick-North Merrick Little League’s 10/11 year old team were recently treated to a special day in Albany by Senator Charles J.
