State Senator Charles J. Fuschillo, Jr. (8th Senate District) today announced the start of his annual “Extend the Holidays” toy drive.
“Extend the Holidays” is an annual toy drive Senator Fuschillo organizes for the benefit of children in Winthrop Hospital’s Pediatric Ward. Toys are delivered after the holiday season, so that children can experience the joys of receiving a holiday gift throughout the year.
With Veterans Day approaching, Senator Charles J. Fuschillo, Jr. (R-Merrick) is reminding veterans and their families about the military awards offered by New York State to honor New Yorkers who have served in the armed forces.
“Once again, the MTA Board is steering New York State in the wrong direction by asking Long Islanders to pay more, this time by raising cash tolls on major bridges and tunnels from $5.50 to $6.50 and increasing the E-Z Pass toll by 5 percent. Both residents and businesses will again realize the negative impact of these increases.
“I am extremely disappointed that Governor Paterson vetoed autism insurance reform legislation I sponsored, which was unanimously passed by both the Senate and Assembly, that would have helped individuals with autism get the care and treatment they need.
New York State Senator Charles J. Fuschillo, Jr. (R-Merrick) and Assemblyman David McDonough (R-North Merrick) recently attended the North Merrick Fire Department’s Family Open House. The event taught families about fire prevention and safety through hands-on, interactive demonstrations.

Senator Charles J. Fuschillo, Jr. (R-Merrick) recently attended Nassau Shores Civic Association’s annual pumpkin patch & hayride family festival at Bayfront Park in Massapequa. The family oriented event helped celebrate the fall season through pumpkin picking, hayrides, children’s activities, and live musical entertainment.
New York State Senator Charles J. Fuschillo, Jr. (R-Merrick) today helped break ground on Farmingdale State College’s new Campus Center. Senator Fuschillo and Assemblyman Bob Sweeney (D-Lindenhurst) secured state funding for the project.
Above is a letter Senator Fuschillo sent to Governor David Paterson urging him to sign autism insurance reform legislation which is currently before him for consideration. The legislation (S7000B), which Senator Fuschillo sponsored, would ensure that individuals with autism have access to important treatment and care.
Over 600 pounds of food, household supplies, personal care items, and school supplies were collected through a food drive sponsored by Senator Charles J. Fuschillo, Jr. (R-Merrick) to help veterans in need.
