(ALBANY, NY) Senator Dale M. Volker (R-C-I, Depew) announced today that he has passed legislation that would give docket priority to claims for those who have been unjustly convicted and imprisoned. "Anthony’s Law" is named after Anthony Capozzi, who was convicted over two decades ago of a crime he did not commit. Due to an administrative error, DNA evidence which would have exonerated him was never examined until recently. Despite the fact that he did not commit this crime he has spent more than half of his life behind bars.

Plan Includes Major Tax Cuts for Small Businesses and Manufacturers Senator Dale Volker and his colleagues in the Senate Majority recently unveiled a new economic development plan that will create new jobs, particularly Upstate, revitalize communities and encourage young people to stay in New York State.

Provisions of the plan include new, job creating tax cuts for small businesses and manufacturers that will make them more competitive.

Urges suspension of State sales tax on gasoline, greater emphasis on renewable energy sources to decrease reliance on foreign oil

(DEPEW, N.Y.) With gasoline prices now approaching $4 per gallon putting a strain on New York’s hardworking families and small businesses, Senator Dale M. Volker (R-C-I) today announced that the Senate will act on legislation to provide much needed relief at the gas pump by suspending New York State’s gasoline taxes during the summer travel season.

Senator Volker today advanced its top priority for 2008 through introduction of a multi-billion dollar property tax relief plan that would double the size of the current STAR rebate for most homeowners and triple the size of the STAR rebate for seniors next year, while abolishing the current income eligibility thresholds instituted last year by Governor Spitzer.

Volker (R-C-I, Depew) today urged Governor Spitzer to promise additional state funds to eliminate any and all proposed toll hikes by the New York State Thruway Authority, just as he has for the Metropolitan Transit Authority for downstate New York Commuters. Senator Volker has already urged the State Comptroller to perform a thorough audit of the New York State Thruway Authority finances. The State Comptroller has agreed to an audit and is going to expedite the audit process.

(DEPEW, NY) Today is a sad day for New Yorkers. The New York State Court of Appeals have placed the last nail in the coffin on New York State's Death Penalty Statute. Sadly, political ideology has reared its ugly head on a public policy matter that impacts all of our lives.

The case involves theshootings of seven innocent people who were shot in the head at point-blank range, apparently to eliminate the witnesses in a robbery by a murderer by the name of John Taylor.Five of the victims died. This was the infamous "Wendy’s Murders" case that took place in Queens several years ago.
