SENATOR VOLKER LAUNCHES GRASS-ROOTS PETITION DRIVE TO RESTORE STAR REBATE CHECKS

Senator Volker and members of the Senate Republican Conference today launched a statewide, grass-roots petition drive to restore the STAR property tax relief rebate checks important to middle-class families that were eliminated by Democrats.      The multifaceted petition drive will utilize email and social networking sites such as Facebook, along with creation of a new on-line petition to pressure Democrat lawmakers to restore the rebate checks they eliminated as part of the recently-enacted State budget.

Senator Volker Announces Passage of "Anthony’s Law"

 

(ALBANY, NY) Senator Dale M. Volker (R-C-I, Depew) announced today that he has passed legislation that would give docket priority to claims for those who have been unjustly convicted and imprisoned. "Anthony’s Law" is named after Anthony Capozzi, who was convicted over two decades ago of a crime he did not commit. Due to an administrative error, DNA evidence which would have exonerated him was never examined until recently. Despite the fact that he did not commit this crime he has spent more than half of his life behind bars.

(ALBANY, NY) Dale M. Volker (R-C-I, Depew) today voiced concerns that with the state budget due in less than three weeks, that no public debate, disclosure and conference committees have been scheduled to discuss openly the impact of the state budget on New York taxpayers. Rather, Governor Paterson, Senator Smith and Sheldon Silver and their Democratic conferences have decided instead to hide behind closed doors and make a mockery of the budget reform law we adopted two years ago.

(DEPEW, NY) Senator Dale M. Volker (R-I-C, Depew) today announced that he has contacted New York State Comptroller Thomas DiNapoli, to perform an extensive audit on the New York State Thruway Authority. New York State Court Of Appeals Blows It Again

(DEPEW, NY) Today is a sad day for New Yorkers. The New York State Court of Appeals have placed the last nail in the coffin on New York State's Death Penalty Statute. Sadly, political ideology has reared its ugly head on a public policy matter that impacts all of our lives.

The case involves theshootings of seven innocent people who were shot in the head at point-blank range, apparently to eliminate the witnesses in a robbery by a murderer by the name of John Taylor.Five of the victims died. This was the infamous "Wendy’s Murders" case that took place in Queens several years ago.

Senator Volker Announces The Passage Of One Year Extension Of The Power For Jobs Program

Volker (R-C-I, Depew) announced today The New York State Senate today approved legislation (S.5826a), that provides for a one year extension of the Power for Jobs and Energy Cost Savings Benefits programs. The legislation will provide for these low-cost energy programs to continue without a break and will be extended to June 30, 2008.
