Creative Time PLOT 09 Public Art Installation

Creative Time is putting on a new public artquadrennial: PLOT, taking place on historic Governors Island and featuringinternational artists responding to the island with new, site-responsive artworks. Thefirst edition of PLOT, This World & Nearer Ones, is curated by Mark Beasley. Theproject is produced in association with Governors Island Preservation and EducationCorporation, the National Park Service, NYC & Company, and the Office of theMayor.

This program will run weekly at 11am on Sunday, Friday, Saturday until Sun Oct 11

Governors Island Swim

Spend the Friday before Labor Day jumping off a ferry boat and circling a piece of Manhattan at this challenging 2-miler around the birthplace of New York City, with great views of Lower Manhattan, Jersey City, Staten Island, Brooklyn, and, of course, Governors Island itself. Recording of Senator Squadron's August 25th community conference call about reform in the Senate

On August 25th, Senator Squadron hosted a conference call to discuss the state of reform in Albany. The discussion focused on progress made on Senate rules reform and work that still needs to be done on ethics, campaign finance, and transparency in the Senate.

The call was the second in a series of community conference calls, all of which are open to the public.

Governor Paterson Signs Galef/Squadron Legislation Saving Taxpayer Money Through Alternative Notification Process

Governor Paterson signed legislation (A.7966/S.3689) sponsored by Assemblywoman Sandy Galef and Senator Daniel Squadron on July 28, 2009 (Chapter 275) that changes the notification process of real property tax lien foreclosure proceedings.  This legislation will allow county, city and village tax districts to provide the New York State Commissioner of Taxation and Finance (Commissioner) notice of the commencement of real property tax lien foreclosure proceedings by alternative means approved by the Commissioner.  The alternative means would include those other than the currently r
