"I am proud we were able to reach an agreement that will undoubtedly stave off devastating cuts that would negatively impact our most vulnerable populations. As Chairman of the Senate Mental Health and Developmental Disabilities Committee, I have met with countless individuals throughout the state who understand the crushing blow these service cuts would have on our nonprofit service providers who care for the developmentally disabled. 

Senator David Carlucci (D-Rockland/Westchester) today visited the Hi-Tor Animal Care Center to provide a charitable contribution of over 100 items to pets in need, including toys, food, cleaning supplies, blankets, and more.  He was greeted by dedicated Hi-Tor staff personnel, enthusiastic animal lovers, and a plethora of cats and dogs awaiting their next loving, adopting owner.

“The response amount of support among animal lovers everywhere was truly incredible, and I look forward to working with Hi-Tor in the ways to help so many animals in need,” said Senator Carlucci.

ALBANY, NY – Senator David Carlucci (D-Rockland/Westchester) today welcomed back organ donor champion Lauren Shields and advocacy groups to Albany in their latest effort to pass a sweeping overhaul of how the organ donation process is administered in New York State.  In arguing for greater control over the Donate Life Registry for organ, eye, and tissue donation, advocates insist that legislators should support current legislation that would turn over its operation and promotion of the Donate Life Registry to a not-for-profit statewide organization that has experience working in organ donation.  In doing so, this would continue a nationwide trend of other states that already have made the appropriate

Joint Effort Between NY and NJ will Prevent Flooding Hazards Along Major Tributaries and Watersheds; Key Priority Among Hudson Valley Communities

NANUET, NY – Senator David Carlucci (D-Rockland/Westchester), in partnership with the Hi Tor Animal Care Center, today announced his office will be hosting a Rockland Pet Food and Toy Supply Drive to provide animal lovers the chance to spoil their K-9 and feline companions with irresistible treats and other usable items.  The supply drive will throughout the month of May with all receivable items provided to the animal shelter.

OSSINING, NY– In an effort to foster dialogue and increase participation with the local community, Senator David Carlucci (D-Rockland/Westchester) today announced plans to host his Ossining Office Open House.  The event will be held on Wednesday, May 8th from 6:00 PM – 8:00 PM, located at 2 Church Street in Ossining. 

“This historic budget agreement clearly demonstrates to all New Yorkers that Albany is focused on delivering real results for the middle class.  For the third year in a row, New York State has created a fiscally sound and responsible budget that cuts taxes and creates jobs.  This budget closes a $1.3 billion dollar gap with no new taxes or fees while also phasing out the 18-a Utility Assessment that would otherwise hit homeowners’ pocketbooks.

"I applaud the Senate leadership today for agreeing to restore $120 million dollars in proposed spending cuts to the Office for People with Developmental Disabilities.  As I have said before, I believe that we cannot balance the budget on the backs of people with developmental disabilities, including the many agencies who provide critical care for our most vulnerable populations.  The Senate has acted wisely and I am hopeful that we can pass an on-time balanced budget that continues to fully fund these vital services."
