SPECIALISTS MEETING HOMEOWNERS IN ROCKLAND COUNTY
Initiative Part of Statewide Outreach Program to Help Homeowners
in Foreclosure and Those in Danger of Foreclosure
Benjamin M. Lawsky, Superintendent of Financial Services, today sent mortgage foreclosure relief specialists to Rockland County to provide direct assistance to homeowners struggling to save their homes because of the foreclosure crisis.
Suffern, NY (February 10, 2012) – Surrounded by scores of local veterans, school administrators and distinguished guests, Senator David Carlucci (D-Rockland/Orange) today hosted his second annual Valentines for Veterans Celebration at the VFW Ramapo Post 2973 in Suffern. The organized event amassed a whopping 2,500 valentines that were donated by more than 35 schools throughout the 38th State Senate District.
Ramapo, NY – (February 9, 2012) – On Wednesday, Senator David Carlucci (D-Rockland/Orange) joined Lieutenant Governor Robert Duffy, Rockland County Sheriff Lou Falco, District Attorney Tom Zugibe, and other state and local officials at the Rockland Fire Training Center in Ramapo to urge passage of expanding the DNA database that would mandate that people convicted of all crimes provide a DNA sample. Currently, just about half of the people convicted of a felony and certain misdemeanor crimes are included in a database. State and local officials have said that the expansion is necessary to improve and update law enforcement tools that would help go after criminals.

NYS Empire State Development to Administer $21 Million in Business Flood Recovery Grant Program
NANUET – Senator David Carlucci (D-Rockland/Orange) today reminded Hudson Valley residents devastated by the impact of Hurricane Irene that the New York State Empire State Development is now accepting applications for the Hurricane Irene-Tropical Storm Lee Business Flood Recovery Grant Program. As part of last year’s Middle Class Tax Reduction Plan that reduced the MTA Payroll Tax, the flood relief program was created to provide assistance to eligible small businesses, not-for-profit organizations, farms or owners of multiple dwelling that sustained direct physical flood-related damage as a result of Hurricane Irene.

NANUET – Senator David Carlucci (D-Rockland/Orange) today announced that his office has won a hard-fought battle with E-Z Pass by waiving a costly administrative fee imposed on Nanuet resident and Tappan Zee Bridge commuter Bruce Cohen.
SPRING VALLEY – In conjunction with Haiti’s two-year anniversary since its deadly earthquake, Senator David Carlucci (D-Rockland/Orange) today visited the Louis Kurtz Civic Center in Spring Valley to take part in its First Annual Youth Summit hosted by the Rockland County Haiti Relief Campaign. He spoke to High School students throughout Rockland County about ways to become engaged in the effort to rebuild Haiti. The event also featured three educational workshops with keynote speakers.

ALBANY – Senator David Carlucci (D-Rockland/Orange) today voted to hold the Iranian regime accountable by voting to pass the Iran Divestment Act of 2012 out of the New York State Senate. The bill (S.5917A), which was co-sponsored by Senator Carlucci, will bar entities that invest in Iran’s energy industry from receiving state contracts here in New York.
WEST NYACK – Continuing his efforts to highlight cultural diversity in Rockland County, Senator David Carlucci (D-Rockland/Orange) on Friday visited Strawtown Elementary School to present second grade student and grand prize winner Isabella Masionette an award for her artwork design in his Hispanic Heritage Month Poster Contest.
