Senator Carlucci and Assemblywoman Gunther Join Fight to Protect People with Developmental Disabilities

Sponsor Paula’s Law in Assembly and Senate

ALBANY, NY – Assemblywoman Aileen M. Gunther (D, C – Forestburgh) and Senator David Carlucci (D – Rockland/Orange) today announced their sponsorship of legislation (S4817/A7128) requiring the installation and operation of surveillance cameras at all entrances and exits of facilities operated by the New York State Office of People with Developmental Disabilities (OPWDD), including group homes, residential homes and inpatient facilities. It would also require the commissioner of OPWDD, in consultation with the State Police, to develop a system for maintaining such recorded images.

Senator Carlucci Unveils Proposal to Expand Pride of NY Program

Senator David Carlucci (D-Rockland/Orange) and Senate colleagues today proposed an expansion of the Pride of New York Program that will increase awareness of restaurants and markets that sell New York-grown products and help strengthen this state’s agricultural economy.

The proposal will create two new designations, “Dine: Pride of New York” for restaurants and “Shop: Pride of New York” for retailers and wholesalers, that would serve as a beacon for New Yorkers who are increasingly looking to buy locally grown products.

Senator Carlucci and RCC Kick Off Largest Job Fair in Rockland County

SUFFERN, NY – In a coordinated effort to spur economic activity and boost local hiring, Senator David Carlucci (D-Rockland/Orange), Rockland Community College President Dr. Cliff L. Wood, and businesses spanning the New York and New Jersey regions, together welcomed hundreds of job seekers that came to participate in this year’s job fair in Rockland County.

The event, which was held at RCC’s Eugene Levy Fieldhouse in Suffern, hosted 59 businesses that represented various sectors of the economy, including financial services, banking, utilities, healthcare, military, telecommunications and many more. School officials said that this was the largest job fair they have hosted in nearly a decade. Over 850 job seekers attended throughout the day.

Senator Carlucci Hosts Great American Cleanup in Congers

Nanuet, NY (March 26, 2012) – Senator David Carlucci (D-Rockland/Orange) this Saturday will be partaking in the Great American Cleanup in Rockland County. He and a team will be cleaning a portion of New York State Route 304 (between Ridge Road & 9W), which he has adopted as part of the Adopt-A-Highway program. Senator Carlucci will be meeting at Dr. Davies Farm Stand located at 306 Route 304, Congers, from 10:30am - 1:30pm. Senator Carlucci Introduces Law Enforcement Bill to Protect K-9 Cops

New City (March 23, 2012) – Senator David Carlucci (D-Rockland/Orange) today joined with Assemblyman Ken Zebrowski (D-Rockland), seven police departments spanning Rockland and Westchester Counties, as well as their K-9 companions to call for passage of legislation (S.6244) that seeks to exempt police dogs from confinement and observation in the event that an individual is bitten in the course of their official duty. The senator had originally introduced the bill back in January.

SENATOR CARLUCCI JOINS WITH LIEUTENANT GOVERNOR ROBERT DUFFY TO URGE PASSAGE OF DNA DATABANK

Ramapo, NY – (February 9, 2012) – On Wednesday, Senator David Carlucci (D-Rockland/Orange) joined Lieutenant Governor Robert Duffy, Rockland County Sheriff Lou Falco, District Attorney Tom Zugibe, and other state and local officials at the Rockland Fire Training Center in Ramapo to urge passage of expanding the DNA database that would mandate that people convicted of all crimes provide a DNA sample.  Currently, just about half of the people convicted of a felony and certain misdemeanor crimes are included in a database.  State and local officials have said that the expansion is necessary to improve and update law enforcement tools that would help go after criminals.
