TARRYTOWN, NY -- To combat the growing problem of toll evasion, Senator David Carlucci (D-Rockland/Westchester) today outlined a comprehensive 4-Point Plan to crack down on toll evaders along New York’s vast network of roads, bridges, and tunnels.   At a press conference at the Tarrytown Toll Plaza overlooking the Tappan Zee Bridge, the Senator discussed various measures that will ultimately serve as an effective deterrent to protect law-abiding commuters and save money.

Senator Carlucci Unveils Comprehensive Plan to Keep Tolls Affordable on the Tappan Zee Bridge

Today Senator David Carlucci celebrated  a toll relief plan at Memorial Park in Nyack for residents of Rockland and Westchester counties. The plan aims to offset the possibility of rising costs for residents who commute over the Tappan Zee Bridge. The initiative includes a discount for residents of Rockland and Westchester counties, a tax credit for toll expenses, a plan to go after chronic toll evaders and the consolidation of services between the Thruway Authority and the Bridge Authority.



In wake of the Metro-North Train #659 collision, Senator Carlucci has introduced S3858, legislation that will direct the department of transportation the authority to collaborate with other organizations to find out which grade crossing lanes are not safe, and how much it would cost to fix them.

The bill, S3858 will Although the numbers of accidents and fatalities at level grade rail crossings have fallen steadily on a national level, they have increased in New York State.
